1 IT S THE SUMMER TO DISCOVER LAFAYETTE FAMILY YMCA SUMMER 2015 STRAIGHT ARROW DAY CAMP & SUMMER SCHOOL AGE CHILDCARE

2 Nationwide no one cares for more children than the YMCA. At the Y, we believe all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Our programs provide an exciting, safe community for young people to explore the outdoors, build selfesteem, develop interpersonal skills and make lasting friendships and memories. They also help reinforce the YMCA s four core values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty. The key to your child s experience is our talented and dedicated staff team. Our staff is comprised of mature adults who are creative, energetic, and experienced with children. They are the key leadership and heart of our programs. They work very hard to help each child feel successful and to know they are cared about. We hope that you give the staff at Straight Arrow Day Camp and Summer School Age Childcare the opportunity to share what we feel is a great experience with your child this summer. We look forward to meeting your child personally. If you have any questions, feel free to us. Claire Marshall Childcare Director claire@lafayettefamilyymca.org Sharon Thompson Operations/Camp Director sharon@lafayettefamilyymca.org Sarah Glenn School-Age Child Care Coordinator sglenn@lafayettefamilyymca.org 2 Welcome

3 Welcome to Straight Arrow Day Camp Back in 1969 the Treece family had dreams of children swimming, boating, sleeping under the stars, fishing, riding horses, experiencing nature, and enjoying the outdoors. The Treece family graciously donated 40 beautiful acres to the Lafayette Family YMCA and it was named Camp Treece. The YMCA also had the same vision for children. YMCA Camp Treece is the home of Straight Arrow Day Camp. Located just 15 miles southeast of Lafayette on 40 beautiful wooded acres along Wildcat Creek, this is the perfect location for a tremendous camp experience in a secure environment. Straight Arrow Day Camp was started and those first children left greatly enriched. They made memories, built lasting friendships, gained independence and self-confidence. They left camp feeling good about themselves and thankful for the friends they made. For the past 43 years, Straight Arrow Day Camp has become a tradition that has given children the opportunity to make their own special memories. The facilities and programs have changed over time, but our mission has remained the same. At the YMCA, character development and values are more than just buzz words, they are part of who we are. Straight Arrow Day Camp reinforces the values you teach at home. All programs and activities incorporate the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Lafayette Family YMCA 3
