2 Day Camp, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. But few environments are as special as camp, where kids see what they can accomplish, learn and master skills, make new friends, and feel like they belong. Every new experience at day camp is a chance to for kids to stay active, address gaps in learning when school is not in session, and have fun. With the careful guidance of our trained staff, campers will learn core values that will last forever. They ll explore. They ll play. They ll grow. And they ll have an incredible amount of fun! Safe, Licensed Program Safety is our motivation at the Y. We hold our programs to the very highest standards through internal assessments and external inspections. Many of our camps voluntarily fulfill with third party requirements and regulation, including state-licensing and/or ACA accreditation. This helps further ensure a safe, healthy and worthwhile camping experience. Certified, Well-Trained Staff Y counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper. Each Professional Role Model has the knowledge and training to make each moment of your camper s summer fun and enriching. Our staff believes in developing youth through nurturing the potential of every camper. 3 Featured Activities Weekly activities may include:» Swimming» Field Trips» Archery» Arts & Humanities» Outdoor Education» Literacy» Large & small group games» Financial Literacy» Character Development» Canoeing» Singing Songs» Rock Climbing Week A: Music (June 13 17) Tap those toes, and snap those fingers, because camp is alive with the sound of camp songs! With the help of campfire favorites and anything that makes a sound; we will stomp to the beat, dance to the music and live in perfect harmony because without music life would be flat. Week B: Science (June 20 24) Science is all about exploration. If you can dream it, you can create it! Design experiments with friends and build hands-on projects while diving deep into your curious mind. Week C: Superheroes (June 27 July 1) There is no place better than camp to practice your superhero powers! Together with our super camp staff, you will do extraordinary things. Week D: Holidays (July 5 8) What s your favorite Holiday? It matters not! Come all ye faithful because we ve got all the big ones wrapped into one fantastic week. Celebrate them all Valentines Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and more! Week E: Space (July 11 15) Calling all future astronauts! From rockets to aliens, this week will be out there. The depths of space are full of possibilities for discovery! Week F: Sports (July 18 22) Show your skills! Whether you love basketball, soccer, tennis, or another sport, you ll learn lessons centered on teamwork and sportsmanship. Campers of all abilities will learn and play a variety of sports during sports week. Week G: Time Travel (July 25 29) Wind back the clock and join us as we fly through the ages with cavemen, knights, dinosaurs and others from across the ages. This week will be your chance to spend some time in the days of yore which is a pretty fun place to be! Week H: Water (August 1 5) Dive into our wettest week ever! Discover the depths of the ocean, its mysterious creatures, and the pirates that once sailed the blue seas. Arm yourself with water balloons, pack your swimsuit, and prepare to get soaked. Week I: Storybook (August 8 12) Do you have a favorite fairy tale? Whether you are a brave heroine or a heroic prince, this week will be full of magical adventures, your favorite storybook characters, and an incredible journey as far as your imagination can take you. Week J: Michigan (August 15 19) We live in one of the most interesting states in the US, with a vibrant history, beautiful lakes and so much more! Join us for an adventure that has been building since Week K: Pirates (August 22 26) Arrg Matey! Can you help us find the lost treasure? This week will be spent on the high seas with your favorite Pirate friends. Don t forget your eye patches me hearties! Week L: Spirit (August 29 September 2) We ve got spirit yes we do! No sad faces allowed this week as the crazy socks, goofy hats and other wild things come out as we show our spirit to one and all.
4 Friendship, Accomplishment, Belonging BIRMINGHAM FAMILY YMCA DAY CAMP Day Camp at the Y provides youth with supervised activities that teach core values, conflict resolution, sportsmanship, social responsibility, leadership skills and more. Kids have fun while developing friendships, improving their health, participating in reading and financial literacy activities, developing skills, gaining independence, and appreciating teamwork. Our state-licensed camps provide a safe environment for your child as our experienced staff create a summer to remember! Camp runs in week-long sessions from June 13 to September 2. Camp activities run from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm, and before & after care is available. Day Camp Open House Friday, May 13, 6:00 8:00 pm & Saturday, April 30, 1:00 3:00 pm Meet the Staff, ask questions, and spin a wheel for prizes! Families who join us for the Day Camp Open House will have a waived registration fee A $25 Savings! BIRMINGHAM FAMILY YMCA 400 E. Lincoln Street, Birmingham, MI P ymcadetroit.org/birmingham Camp Lincoln - Ages: 3-5 Our youngest age group is full of exciting activities aimed to help campers grow in a social setting. Camp Birmingham - Ages: 6-14 Grade school campers are split into small groups by age to increase safety and participate in ageappropriate activities. They enjoy a weekly field trip, afternoon swim time and lots of activities each day! Teen campers ages have days full of exciting activities aimed to model good character values and grow independence. They do weekly service projects, take field trips and partner with Camp Lincoln to help with reading, crafts and games. Inclusion Camp - Ages: 3 to 14 We believe that all kids should be given the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That s why we are offering an inclusion day experience to children with special needs. Our experienced, caring staff work one-on-one with children to help them to cultivate the values, social skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. Swim Lessons Certified swim instructors will provide a week of swim lessons just for campers! Lessons take place Monday-Thursday during after care and our staff will escort campers to and from the pool. This fee is nonrefundable. A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $50 is required for each week reserved and applies toward the total camp fee. A deposit must accompany the registration. If payment is not received by weekly deadline, a late fee will be assessed. Weekly balances are due the Wednesday prior to the start of each camp week. If full payment is not received by the deadline, the deposit and registration for that week will be forfeited. Sibling Discount & Payment Plans A 10% discount is available for each additional sibling registered. For your convenience, the YMCA uses Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). This allows us automatically withdraw payments directly from your credit/debit card or savings account. Weekly payments w ill be automatically withdrawn on the Wednesday prior to each camp week reserved. For additional payment plans or financial assistance, please come into the branch. Drop Off and Pick Up Y Camps run from 9:00 am through 4:00 pm daily. If you need to drop off late or pick up early, please talk with camp leadership ahead of time to ensure your child gets the maximum camp experience. A state issued photo ID is needed to sign out any camper at every pick up. A late fee of $2 per minute will be charged for all late pick-ups. Before Care: 7:00 9:00 am / After Care: 4:00 6:00 pm Please see the Day Camp Parent Handbook for specifics on payment deadlines, late pick up fees, and cancellation policies. New this year: Register online at ymcadetroit.org/day-camp for your convenience! And as always, in-person registration at your local branch is available, too.

It is the parent/guardians responsibility to plan in advance of this need. Additional field trips may not be substituted if a camper misses a day. Parent Initial Swimming My camper may participate in the YMCA summer swim program. I understand my camper will supervised by a licensed lifeguard at all times. NOTE: Campers will be given a swim test before each swimming session. Parent Initial Program Information I have received the YMCA Summer Day Camp Parent Handbook. It is my responsibility to know all the policies and procedures outlined within.
