2 BIRMINGHAM ADULT EDUCATION SERVICE How to join a course You can enrol on our leisure courses (marked Y in the listings) as early as Monday 7 th December by going into your local centre, calling our Information Line or going online. For qualification courses (marked N in the listings) it is essential you come along to the centre on the listed day and time the course starts. This will give you and the tutor the opportunity to discuss the requirements of the course and make sure it is right for you. For language courses (marked N in the listings) please contact the centre before enrolment so we can check that the course you wish to join is at the right level for you. How much will it cost? Course fees will depend on the type of course, how long it is and your personal circumstances. You will be eligible for a Concessionary Fee If you are currently claiming: Job Seekers Allowance (JSA), Employment Support Allowance Work Related Activity Group (ESA WRAG) or Universal Credit. or If you are not in employment but in receipt of Income Based Benefits and on a qualification course to help you gain employment. You will be eligible for a Discounted Fee If you are on an income based benefit such as Income Support, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit, Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Working Tax Credit (and have a household income of less than 17,560 per annum). You will need to pay the Standard Fee If you are not on Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) or any other Income Based Benefits. If you are doing a qualification course you will be expected to pay the exam fee.
