3 UKATA Asbestos Awareness UKATA-accredited Asbestos awareness is essential for all employees whose duties have the potential to expose them to asbestos. Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 (CAR 2012) puts a requirement on employers to ensure that their staff have undergone suitable asbestos awareness training so that they are aware of the potential dangers they may face. The properties of asbestos The types of asbestos and the likely occurrences Avoiding the risks of asbestos General advice and procedures when coming into contact with asbestos dust 3-4 Hours 65 + VAT per delegate (Both full and refresher courses are available) Page 3

4 UKATA Non-Licensed Asbestos Removal UKATA-accredited Non-licensed Asbestos removal course is essential for any individual who wishes to carry out removal work or otherwise disturb low risk asbestos containing materials. Ideal for trades people such as plumbers, carpenters, painters, electricians etc. Safe Systems of Work and carrying out risk assessments relative to the work they intend to undertake Bespoke company Asbestos management plan Associated required paperwork i.e. disposal consignment notes Competency testing Use of HVAC Decontamination/emergency procedures Waste handling/disposal procedures to comply with Environmental Regulations Use of protective equipment Qualitative respirator face fit test for each attendee is included in course fee if required, this usually costs at least 35pp COSHH 2002 legislative requirements Photo ID card 6 Hours VAT per delegate Page 4

5 Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Our CITB-accredited Site Management Safety Training Scheme Course is designed to teach delegates about the fundamental requirements of the Construction Design & Management Regulations (CDM) and other regulations stipulated by the Health and Safety at Work Act. The course includes a 25 question exam, plus all candidates must complete a practical project including the health & safety planning of a construction site complying with CDM. Health and safety legislation Typical construction specific hazards Risk assessments and control measures with a particular emphasis on construction sites. How to assess specific risks in a range of areas including: scaffold erection, excavation and demolition The roles and responsibilities of the duty holders involved in CDM How to set up a construction site in accordance with CDM 5 days VAT per delegate (includes registration, exam fees, textbook and refreshments) Page 5

6 Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) Our CITB-accredited Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme Course is designed to teach delegates about the fundamental requirements of the Construction Design & Management Regulations (CDM) and other regulations stipulated by the Health and Safety at Work Act. The course includes a 25 question exam and delegates must also prepare and deliver an example toolbox talk on a workplace safety topic. Health and safety legislation The causes, types and number of construction accidents. Risk assessments in a number of construction based scenarios including; demolition, confined spaces and working at height. Key requirements of asbestos management, manual handling, mechanical handling, COSHH, fire etc The influences and effects of human behavior 2 days VAT per delegate (includes registration, exam fees, textbook and refreshments) Page 6

7 NEBOSH Accredited Training Course (Open Course) NEBOSH accredited national general certificate is equivalent to NVQ level 3 and has been recognized as the basis for the broad introduction of occupational health and safety. It provides a base of knowledge which can be further developed. The course includes two formal exams and a workplace practical assessment. 8 NEBOSH Accredited Training Course (Distance Learning) NEBOSH accredited national general certificate is equivalent to NVQ level 3 and has been recognized as the basis for the broad introduction of occupational health and safety. It provides a base of knowledge which can be further developed. The course includes two formal exams and a workplace practical assessment. The distance learning option allows delegates to complete the course in their own time with unlimited support from senior tutors at Guardian Support. 9 First Aid Training First aid training is essential for all businesses to ensure that they have adequate provision in place for the provision of first aid. The Health and safety (First Aid) regulations 1981 require all employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, personnel and facilities to enable first aid to be administered if someone becomes injured or ill whilst at work. There are 2 types of first aid courses, namely a full first aid course which is 3 days or an emergency first aid course lasting 1 day. We also do other more specific first aid courses. Emergency First Aid Introduction and basics, unconsciousness, CPR, Heart Attacks, Bleeding, Shock, Choking, Accident Reporting, Contents of First Aid boxes, Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Burns, Poisoning, Anaphylaxis and Head Injuries. Full First Aid All of the above plus broken bones, legislation, Riddor, food poisoning, role play, plus a practical exam. 1 day (emergency first aid) 3 days (full first aid) 30 (emergency first aid) + VAT per delegate 90 (full first aid) + VAT per delegate

10 Risk Assessment Training Risk assessments are a legal requirement for all employers under legislation, including under regulation 3 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations In particular, if you have more than 5 staff members, you also have a legal obligation to record, in writing, the significant findings of any such assessment. 11 COSHH Training COSHH assessments are a legal requirement under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 for any organisation that uses hazardous substances. 12 Manual Handling Training Manual handling often forms part of many workers roles, whether this is conventional lifting, or some less well known manual handling operations such as pushing, pulling, lowering or carrying. Manual handling injuries can often be the cause of long term health problems, especially as many injuries are often the cumulative result over a long period of time of poor manual handling techniques. 13 CDM Training The Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007 require all organization s involved in any construction activities to suitably plan and assess their work activities. 14 Work at Height Training Work at Height Regulations 2005 require all employers to put in place suitable arrangements for work at height. 15 Fire Marshal Training The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires all organisation s to ensure that suitable fire safety provisions are made, including arrangements for evacuation. In particular, it also obliges the employer to appoint trained personnel to ensure these duties are met and maintained.
