3 NEW YOURI GAGARIN INFORMATION CENTER Do you need information on space? A question about the space program is burning your lips? You now have the opportunity to fulfill your curiosity! The main purpose of the Youri Gagarin Information Center, specifically designed for teachers and space wonderers of all kinds, is to answer all your questions. 4 PReschooleRs 1 st to 3 Rd GRadeRs All programs can be adapted to the children s age and grade. SPACE VISIT The Space Visit introduces the students to the history of the conquest of space and its repercussions on our everyday life. Composed of a guided tour of the Space Science Center, a movie and interactive stations, the Space Visit lets students travel in our solar system and discover authentic NASA artefacts such as a Moon rock and a real Apollo mission spacesuit. 2 hours 15 to 20 per group $8/student (plus tax) 10 a.m. to noon 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. ASTROLABE The Astrolabe proposes activities such as spacethemed craftworks, a quiz and a star hunt, therefore introducing students to basic scientific notions. Explored themes include : the sundial, the space station, the space hand and the history of the conquest space. This program is designed to teach children about the type of information found in a museum. Each activity lasts 30 minutes. 3 hours 15 to 20 per group $9/student (plus tax) 9 a.m. to noon 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. SPOUTNIK A complete day of activities at the Cosmodôme, combining the Space Visit and the Astrolabe programs. 5 hours of activities and 1 hour for lunch 15 to 20 per group $15,50/student (plus tax) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. TRAVELLING PROGRAM CLASSROOM-COSMODÔME This program gives you the opportunity to welcome a counsellor from the Cosmodôme in your classroom. He will introduce your students to space sciences through interactive activities. Spacesuit : Presentation of the different features of a spacesuit. A student will have the chance to put on the suit during the demonstration. The solar system : Introduction to the planetary dynamics and a game featuring the distances and dimensions of the solar system. Space hand : Do-it-yourself craft recreating the robotic hand mechanisms used on the shuttle and the International Space Station. (Recommended for preschoolers and 1 st graders) Meteorite : Exposé on meteorites, with a definition of each type : asteroids, meteors, meteorites. Please note that the minimum height to have access to simulators is 1.28m and the maximum weight is 100 kg. This program allows the students to experience the real-life applications of sciences in the field of astronautics. 3 hours 15 to 20 per group $14,75/student (plus tax) 9 a.m. to noon 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. SPACE OVERVIEW A complete day of activities at the Cosmodôme, combining the Space Visit and the Gemini programs. 5 hours of activities and 1 hour for lunch 15 to 20 per group $22,50/student (plus tax) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

6 4 th to 6 th GRadeRs JunioR High & High School Students PROGRAMS WITH OVERNIGHT STAY ATLANTIS and ENDEAVOUR CAMPS During scientific workshops, trainees must cooperate to resolve engineering problems, build a rocket or a space capsule, and test their prototypes. Training simulators allow participants to experience weightlessness, complete disorientation or the feeling of walking on the moon. Trainees sleep in modules similar to those aboard the space station. The most memorable moment of the camp is undeniably the Space Mission where crews simulate a mission in space aboard the replica of the space shuttle Endeavour. Communication and teamwork become crucial in order to successfully accomplish the mission. ATLANTIS CAMP 5 scientific workshops and prototype testing 1 or 2 overnight stays in space modules 4 training simulators 1 space mission Meals and snacks for the duration of the stay ATLANTIS 1 overnight stay $225/student, $80/chaperon (plus tax) Arrival at 9 a.m. on day 1, departure at 4 p.m. on day 2. ATLANTIS 2 overnight stays NEW $265/student, $80/chaperon (plus tax) Arrival at 6 p.m. on day 1, departure at 4 p.m. on day 3. 7 PROGRAMS WITH OVERNIGHT STAY MOONWALK This program includes a Gemini, a Space Visit and an overnight stay in modules similar to those aboard the space station. An evening snack and a breakfast are included in the package. 5 hours of activities 15 per group $63/student (plus tax) 3 p.m. to 9 a.m. (Space Visit and Gemini in the evening) 6 p.m. to 11 a.m. (Gemini in the evening and Space Visit in the morning) TRAVELLING PROGRAMS CLASSROOM-COSMODÔME This program gives you the opportunity to welcome a counsellor from the Cosmodôme in your classroom. Spacesuit : Presentation of the different characteristics of a space suit and introduction to the problems related to a space walk (transmission of sound, pressure, solar rays, etc.). Anatomy of a space shuttle : Detailed analysis of the technological complexity of a space shuttle. Space Careers: Overview of the different ways of becoming an astronaut and of the other space-related jobs. 8 School daycares and SuMMeR day camps Two programs created exclusively for school daycares and summer camps are available as well as our regular programs, giving you a range of activities to choose from! The order in which the activities are presented is not necessarily the order in which they will be offered. For 5 to 8 year old NEWTON Participants build a Newton vehicle, participate in a rally of the Space Science Center, watch a movie about the solar system and observe the sun through a telescope. 3,5 hours of activities and 30 minutes for lunch 15 per group $10/participant (plus tax) 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Noon to 3:30 p.m. For 9 to 12 year old ORION I After assembling and testing a Mars rover robot, participants have the chance to try a training simulator*. They are then sent on a rally throughout the Space Science Center, followed by a movie on lunar exploration. 9 School daycares TRAVELLING PROGRAM LET S CONQUER SPACE! NEW Looking for an extracurricular activity? This is the program to fit your needs! Specifically designed for school daycares, this program consists of a series of 8 one-hour long workshops, which can be given at the rate of 1 per week. A counsellor goes to your facility to introduce young ones to the fascinating world of space with many fun activities : Craftworks Scientific experiments Workshops on space developments that became everyday objects (diapers, sunglasses, etc.) Anecdotes on the conquest of space Activities are offered to everyone and children are grouped by their school levels (kindergarten to 2 nd grade, 3 rd to 6 th grade). We take care of all the informative material and the application forms to distribute to the parents, so that they can register directly from our reservation service. The registration fees, paid by the parents, include the material used in the workshops. They should stay with their group during the activities and take an active part when necessary. Please plan to have an adult for each group, as indicated in the programs description. Please plan to have additional chaperons if your group is composed of younger children (preschoolers), or if the group integrates children with special difficulties.
