1 Dear Applicant, Koko is cutting bay area poverty in half by Are you? Thank you for joining our fight to end the cycle of poverty in the Bay Area by competing in the Koko Challenge. Each year, United Way teams up with the Bay Area General Counsel Group and local law firms to celebrate community giving and volunteering through our annual Koko Challenge. Over the last 28 years, the Bay Area legal community has contributed over $31 million to support United Way s community efforts and has set a standard of excellence for the rest of the business community. The Koko Challenge provides an opportunity to invest in United Way s innovative work to prevent poverty and strengthen vital community services in the Bay Area and help the 1 in 4 Bay Area families now living in poverty. Every day people are forced to make impossible choices between food or gas, heat or clothing, and day care or the doctor. In the Bay Area, we care and we know it s not okay that so many of us cannot make ends meet. Through the Koko Challenge, the legal community is coming together to help families create pathways out of poverty. Instructions Any fundraising, volunteer or other activities that took place in 2015 can be included in your 2015 application. Please limit your supplemental materials to the three pages provided. If you would like to include pictures or video, please share them with us via at koko@uwba.org. You can also post them to our accounts using the links below.
