1 JOB DESCRIPTION POST TITLE: Environmental Services Inspector GRADE: 20,414-22,388 (Band 6) DEPARTMENT: Housing and Neighbourhood Management PURPOSE OF THE JOB To supervise the provision of contract and in-house environmental services, ensuring quality standards are met and taking remedial action where necessary. To raise landscape and play area repairs and assist in Environmental improvement works and projects. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Day to day supervision of Caretakers, Cleaners and Wardens as directed. 2. Day to day supervision of contractors work, ensuring compliance with contract specification and service standards. 3. Have a clear understanding of contracts and contract mangagent, including method statements and risk assessments. 4. Issue Architects instructions, identifying repairs and managing defects on site to agreed timescales, raising orders as necessary. 5. Assist in the development of service standards and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and ensure KPI and other targets are achieved. 6. Assist in the review of contract specifications, contractor appraisals and the assessement of tenders for work. 7. Prepare project reports, minutes and other written communication as required. 8. Work closely with residents, attending meetings as required and ensuring customer focus at all times. 9. Respond to enquiries from the public and manage complaints appropriate to your level of authority. 10. Contribute to the development of the Environmental services plan and play an active role in its delivery. 11. Maintain an up to date knowledge of horticulture & arboriculture theory and practice and legislation and best practice. 12. Maintain accurate databases with regard tool inventories, PPE and site depot.
2 13. Represent LHT/Jigsw at a range of external meetings and to ensure that partners regard us as valuable partner to do business with. 14. Manage budget spend effectively, up to the appropriate level of authotity, identifying efficiencies and helping ensure that we deliver a value for money. 15. Produce preliminaries/ bill of quantities /Specification for environmental improvement works/projects. 16. To lead and/or contribute to LHT/Jigsw (and Symphony wide) projects to ensure the continuing delivery (and continual improvement) of excellent services and play an active role in developing Jigsaw services across the North West and securing new business. 17. To contribute and display a positive attitude to our work, our culture and our customers which inspires others to go that extra mile and make a difference to what we do and how we do it. 18. To remain up to date with current thinking, best practice and Government policy and to contribute to the continual improvement of our service in line with the changing environment in which we operate. To contribute to and deliver high quality customer focused services, in line with our service standards and local arrangments in place wioth clients and other partners. 2. To work effectively with other teams within LHT to deliver a seamless and customer focused service to customers 3. To proactively engage with customers and stakeholders to ensure that they shape, monitor and evaluate our service 4. To develop and foster good working relationships with other Agencies, such as Local Authorities to help align services for the benefit of those communities 5. To work in an open and transparent way with customers to develop a reputation of trust which means they value us as an organisation. 6. To contribute and display a positive approach to equality and diversity practice to shape services around the needs of our customers. MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP 1. To manage your work effectively and contribute to the achievement of our LHT/JigsawBusiness plan 2. To contribute to the direction of the Jigsaw and to LHT as a whole 3. 3 BUSINESS PLANNING AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES 1. Have an understanding of the external environment and help develop our approach to Jigsaw growth opportunities as they arise. 2. Contribute to the production and achievement of the Jigsaw and LHT business plan 4. Manage your own performance effectively ensuring that targets are set, monitored and achieved 5. To take responsibility for budgets and expenditure within your area of the business, identifying efficiencies and helping ensure that we deliver a value for money service. ADDITIONAL AREAS 1.
