3 Introduction Gilbert White s House and The Oates Collection is a fantastic place for families to visit whatever the season. From the strange collection of Georgian cooking utensils in the kitchen and the penguins of the Oates Galleries to the sunflowers and pumpkins in the gardens, there is always plenty to explore. The House and Field Studies Centre have an exciting programme of family activities and events running throughout the year. Summer Term including half-term holidays Summer Holidays Autumn Term including half-term holidays Christmas Period

4 Summer Term Nature The House Sat 28 May 5 Adults, Children Free Gain a better understand the natural world and what local and national organisations, such as the RSPB, South Downs National Park and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, are doing to preserve it. Exciting activities for all ages. No booking required. Nature Suncatchers Wild at The House Tue 31 May 11am-4pm Free with valid museum ticket. Create a beautiful piece of art work to hang in your window using flowers and leaves. Drop in activity, no booking required. Pin Hole Photography Wildflower & The FSC Wed 01 June 10am-12 noon & 1pm-3pm 6 Child, One Adult Free. Following our popular Antarctic Explorer photography session, we will be taking pictures using pin hole cameras outside and developing them in our own dark room. Suitable for ages 5+ due to use of chemicals in development. All materials included. Advance booking required. Unusual Plant The House Sat 18 - Sun 19 June 6 Adults, Children Free 30 exhibitors displaying unusual plants, seeds, garden furniture and exciting activities for all ages including our very own Gardeners Question Time. Explore our wildflower meadow and find out about the butterflies that live there. Mulled Wine The House Sat 3-4 Dec Free Entry Festive Celebrations with Gilbert s very own Mulled Wine recipe, Wassailing and performances by local musicians. Mulled Wine Weekend sees Gilbert White s residence turned into a festive Georgian house, draped in Christmas décor with costumed interpreters wondering the halls.
