06 Kramer Allrad magazine News News Kramer Allrad magazine 07 News Awarded in form and function. Back to it roots: Kramer is expanding its agricultural sales in Europe. Kramer was already distinguished with two prestigious design awards in 2013 a testament to the accomplishments of the design team. We need to set priorities in order to strike a balance between functionality, customer requirements and a special design, says Martin Lehner, chief technical officer of Wacker Neuson SE, the parent company of Kramer. For us, function is clearly in focus and is supported by the design. With success, as the current awards show: the design of the Kramer 650 wheeled loader was honoured both with an if Product Design Award 2013 in the category of special vehicles as well as with a Universal Design Award The design of the compact 650 model captivates with striking lines and the sweep of the hood is continued into the cabin. The bulky fenders give the wheeled loader a stout appearance. This also applies for the rear view of the machine: it is dominated by a V-shaped radiator grille. Solid cast bumpers on the rear corners help to minimise damage. An example of the perfect combination of design and functionality: in order to reach a maximum angle of slope, the bumpers are slanted at the corners and the mounting bolts are not visible. For 60 years, the if Product Design Award has been a recognised trademark when it comes to outstanding design. The Universal Design Award is an international competition that has been awarded annually since Kramer wheeled loaders and telehandlers are well-established in more than just the central European construction industry, landscaping and in municipalities. Wheeled loaders and telehandlers are in daily use in nearly every agricultural operation. They are used as multi-purpose machines for handling work during the harvest, for warehousing, feeding and many other activities. Due to the strong demand, Kramer also wants to expand the distribution of its agricultural products in the future. Five wheeled loaders, two tele wheeled loaders and two compact telehandlers are now available in the traditional Kramer green via a distribution network that is specialised in agriculture. Due to their excellent manoeuvrability, which is often important in stalls and narrow passageways, Kramer machines can offer many advantages in the agricultural sector. This manoeuvrability results from the all-wheel steering with a steering angle of both axles of up to 40. The one-piece frame, the backbone of every Kramer loader, also ensures a consistently high load capacity, even when cornering, and a unique stability on any terrain and in every driving situation. The loaders can be used efficiently for a variety of purposes due to the standard, hydraulic quick coupler with a hydraulic attachment option for numerous application-specific equipment. Strong appearance even on the Internet. Kramer s new Internet appearance convinces both through its design as well as through the user-oriented structure. A clear navigation provides direct access to the products as well as a variety of interesting, useful information and services that Kramer offers. The focus of the new website remains the comprehensive product information for customers. In addition, important industry information, application reports as well as event dates area available at the push of a button. The new emotional appearance also carries on through the Kramer world of experience, which offers numerous new products, innovations and insights into the company. Read more on page 20. Or immerse yourself in the world of Kramer at and New service tool: Even safer for customers. For Kramer customers, the everyday is now a great deal easier. Authorised Kramer dealers will be equipped with a new service tool to be able to offer customers an even more professional machine service. The new Kramer Allrad Diagnostic and Support Tool will be presented at Bauma. It is a tool that in particular guarantees a rapid fault diagnosis of machines and makes highly efficient service possible. The tool will be available for all Kramer machines and was developed to be particularly user-friendly. Only one user interface for all Kramer machines makes daily application easier.
08 Kramer Allrad magazine Company values Company values Kramer Allrad magazine 09 CHARACTER Innovation Customer PERFORMANCE QUALITY Innovation has tradition. In the Wacker Neuson Group, and therefore also with the Kramer Allrad brand, the so-called value wheel applies, which focuses on the customer. One of the four values of the wheel is innovation. This is based on a permanent desire to continuously improve the products, services and processes and to work closely with customers in order to always meet their needs. This also means being a technology leader and giving good ideas a chance. The fact that this approach is deeply rooted in the company and is successful is shown by the number of innovations that Kramer has produced since its establishment in At Kramer, innovation has always aimed to increase efficiency and economic efficiency. In the 1930s, Kramer changed to become one of the first manufacturers of tractors with diesel engines. Today, the diesel engine is the standard for agricultural and construction machines. Another mark of true innovation: they revolutionise an industry and in turn inspire new innovations. Another big step towards more economic efficiency was the first hydraulic quick coupler system from Using Kramer s system, it took less than ten seconds to change the add-on equipment. The company realised early on that the wheeled loaders would more and more become system modules. So the faster the operator can change add-on equipment, the more flexible the machine becomes. With the new system, the change took place in seconds and from the driver s cab. To this day, the Kramer quick coupler is one of the best and most effective systems available on the market. Add-on equipment that was developed for the first Kramer wheeled loaders is incidentally also still compatible with the very latest generation machines. In 1965, Kramer then developed the first vibration damper for the loading system, a typical Kramer innovation. This is because a great improvement was achieved with little effort. A container filled with nitrogen dampens the vibrations of the loading system to provide smooth ride characteristics and ensure that the bulk material always remains in the bucket, even if the terrain is uneven. At the start of the 1980s, Kramer launched the first side tilt bucket on the market, an add-on equipment that, in addition to the traditional bucket work, can also fill trenches on tight construction sites, because the bucket can be placed at more than 90 through the use of a cylinder. This clever solution led to a boom in demand and still impresses today. Most people have heard of the Kramer 312 SL. This was the first wheeled loader with all-wheel steering, which went into series production and was the bestselling loader of its time. The all-wheel steering and one-piece frame proved to be particularly stable, manoeuvrable and had good off-road capability. Kramer is now the market leader in Germany and Europe for wheeled loaders up to 120 hp. In the 1990s, Kramer responded to customer requests for greater dumping height and coverage and developed the first wheeled loader with a telescopic boom. Due to the one-piece frame, Kramer was able to easily meet this request, because the loader remains stable, even at 1.5 metres greater dumping height. The tele wheeled loaders now have a permanent place in the Kramer product portfolio and are particularly in high demand in municipalities and recycling companies.
10 Kramer Allrad magazine Kramer Allrad magazine Innovation is an essential part of our value wheel. It is our aim to continuously improve our products and services. For this reason, we strive to always keep our eyes and ears open to employees for new ideas. And we remain in close contact with our customers to be able to always offer products that even better meet their needs. Martin Lehner, CTO Wacker Neuson SE Innovation The innovative 80-series is introduced. As the first construction machine in the series, it has an infinitely variable high speed drive. The first wheeled loader with a telescopic loading system is developed. The innovative smart handling driver assist system for increased safety and efficiency The first wheeled loader series with three types of steering is offered by Kramer: front axle steering, allwheel steering and crab steering. The first dot-approved drawbar coupling for wheeled loaders and telehandlers from Kramer is launched on the market Kramer launches the first compact telehandler on the market. Kramer expands its product range and develops its own telescoping series for the construction industry, recycling and industry. Kramer began the new millennium with another innovation: Ecospeed, the first infinitely variable high-speed drive in the world for compact construction machines. Kramer has been offering its wheeled loaders with hydrostatic Ecospeed high-speed drives since 2003 and its telehandlers with hydrostatic Ecospeed high-speed drives since Ecospeed runs continuously from 0 to 40 km/h and offers optimised tractive forces with minimised fuel consumption and a particularly sensitive control of the machine. The typical Kramer one-piece frame repeatedly proves to be an outstanding prerequisite for further innovative developments. Thus, in 2005 the first dot-approved drawbar coupling for Kramer wheeled loaders and telehandlers was launched on the market. In connection with a pressure air-brake installation, up to 20 tonnes of material can be transported. This feature gives Kramer a competitive edge and customers of the traditional manufacturer a clear added value. The latest development from Kramer is the innovative smart handling driver assist system for increased safety and efficiency. Stricter requirements on the stability of telehandlers are an important topic. That is why the standard EN15000 requires an overload protection system for telehandlers in order to avoid the vehicle tipping over in the longitudinal direction during static operation. This is used for the protection of the driver and machine. However, safety is increased at the expense of productivity in most systems. With smart handling, Kramer combines the increased operational safety of the telehandlers with a significant efficiency increase in the employment of labour. This is because the system allows for safe and fluid working motions, even under high payloads, and ensures an optimal protection of the operator and machine. All of these developments of the past show: innovation is a tradition at Kramer. Customers should be fascinated to see what ideas and innovations the company will introduce in the coming years The Kramer 312 SL is the first wheeled loader that goes into series production with all-wheel steering. It was the best-selling loader of its time with more than 10,000 units sold in total Kramer manufactures the first agricultural machines with a diesel engine Kramer develops the first vibration damper for the loading system. The first hydraulic quick coupler system by Kramer is launched on the market The first side tilt bucket is launched on the market.
Kramer Allrad magazine Expertise Kramer Allrad magazine 13 Excavation, processing, loading, backfilling, compacting, cleaning......typical tasks of a genuine wheeled loader from the strong Kramer Allrad brand in road and highway construction and civil engineering. A Kramer is incredibly versatile and therefore offers a wide range of applications. On the following page, you can experience for what and why a Kramer is so frequently involved in road and highway construction and civil engineering. A variety of tasks are required on construction sites in road and highway construction and civil engineering. This is because there are different requirements for every application. The fact that a Kramer Allrad wheeled loader is an all-rounder is due to many factors: compact design, high optional bandwidth and a series of matched addon equipment offer flexibility and efficiency in all circumstances. Kramer Allrad properly mixes into road and highway construction and civil engineering. For example, daily ranges of application are: Picking up and moving excavated and backfill material Back filling and levelling earth Picking up, moving and placing asphalt Mixing and positioning concrete Cleaning streets and areas Compacting transport paths or footing Unloading and moving pallets Loading lorries Development based on the application Regardless of the add-on equipment used, Kramer offers many properties that make its machines indispensable for a variety of applications. Pallet handling for example: the constant payload over the entire steering angle range makes a Kramer wheeled loader stable and manoeuvrable in use on any terrain. If a lorry needs to be loaded on uneven terrain, which is usually the case on a construction site, you can rely on the constant payload and stability here as well. Whatever is being taken off of the truck can be transported further in any position, because there is no centre of gravity shift due to the steering geometry. The same stability applies when using all of the add-on equipment, for example also for the side tilt bucket. The Kramer load stabiliser was permanently optimised for the processing of loads or backfill material so that less backfill material is lost. A special feature of Kramer machines is their manoeuvrability thanks to a small turning radii. The established Kramer all-wheel steering system ensures this. This has the desirable side effect fast work cycles due to the shorter routes when handling materials. At the same time, the high level of stability is maintained. The one-piece frame and the constant payload ensure that a Kramer always remains firmly on the ground in any terrain. Special add-on equipment for road and highway construction and civil engineering For all add-on equipment in road and highway construction and civil engineering, the following applies: the necessary vehicle hydraulics for operation are standard. This has the added benefit that the equipment can be constantly used with a high performance. There are hand throttle and low-speed controls for increased operating safety and comfort. You can also sit back and relax when it comes to changing the add-on equipment. This is done with standard, hydraulic quick coupling equipment. The Kramer wheeled loader has now become an indispensable helper in road and highway construction and in civil engineering. But it is still not yet fully utilised with these tasks because it can do still more, such as: ploughing snow, disposal, cutting, mowing...and moving mountains and trees time and time again.
14 Kramer Allrad magazine Expertise Expertise Kramer Allrad magazine 15 Added safety and machine availability: New service tool is launched Machine service and fault detection are important tasks of customer service. And expensive. The new diagnostic tool is the direct line to the heart of every Kramer machine. It provides more security in the service quality. If a machine stops on a construction site, this often not only costs time and money, but also sometimes a great deal of patience. The fault is not always immediately clear, but has to be rectified as quickly as possible so that the wheeled loader can be put back into use at once. Of course the customer service reaches the customer very quickly. However, troubleshooting can be time consuming. This is exactly why the Kramer service tool was developed. It efficiently supports authorised Kramer dealers and service partners in their everyday life and helps to reduce service costs, repairs and downtimes in the process. Ultimately, the customer relationship does not end with the purchase of the machine. Kramer has made professional customer service a priority and continuously develops the necessary tools for this purpose. Now the dealers are equipped with the new Kramer Allrad diagnostic and support tool for an even more qualified customer service. The tool itself consists of software and an interface that is connected to the service PC or laptop of the customer service technician. The user interface looks the same for all machines. If the technician knows the interface and operation of one machine, then he does not require any additional training for how to use the tool on another machine. In general, the tool is easy to operate. A high level of user friendliness was especially kept in mind during the development process. Of course, the environment is included in this: compatibility with respect to all popular operating systems is ensured and only one cable is needed that supports both new and older interface standards of the machines. Kramer Allrad customers will benefit from the newly introduced service tool and its possibilities. The service tool offers an all-round service. The most important functions are: Diagnosis with a direct error display. No more long searches. The error is identified immediately. The tool also detects faults at an early stage, thereby preventing subsequent damage. Simplified service: the entire machine is serviced with just one tool. Parametrising: for example, new driving cycles are imported at the push of a button. Calibration: this function guarantees that every machine always works reliably by adjusting sensors regularly. Updating: software updates are easily and automatically imported.
16 Kramer Allrad magazine Expertise Expertise Kramer Allrad magazine 17 To have for each service New Year s ski jump: Peak performances with Kramer. Every year, the New Year s ski jump competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a major international event. Only Kramer machines were used for setting up this year s Four Hills Tournament. For 20 days, Kramer worked ten hours a day lifting, transporting, placing and clearing. The big advantage of the Kramer machines in all of these tasks was the versatility and high level of ease of use. Due to the many mounting options, such as a pallet fork, bucket or snow plough, they are flexible in use for all trades. With the add-on forks, it was possible to quickly and safely transport various materials and objects, from the two-metre wide wooden huts for the refreshment stands to the crowd barricades of the parking lot right up to the seating for the grandstands. The heaviest object that was loaded during the preparations was a water tank weighing 2.5 tonnes. Even very delicate objects were moved safely, such as the media equipment for the broadcasting organisations, who reported directly from the top of the jump-off platform of the New Year s ski jump competition. The Kramer 950 was primarily used for the snow clearing duty in the stadium. Very satisfied The various operators were very satisfied with the machines: in addition to a super ride, the machines were very clearly arranged and extremely efficient. As there were predominantly tight spaces on site, the operators also appreciated the easy manoeuvring and turning. The good offroad capability was also impressive. The telehandler easily navigated the switchbacks to the jump-off platform in the wintry road conditions despite at least a gradient of 25 to 30 percent. Location of the event: the Olympic ski stadium in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The 61st Four Hills Tournament is being prepared. The construction began on 17 December 2012 and the disassembly lasted until 5 January The logistical challenges were immense: many specialists worked simultaneously on the entire premises and the individual service providers required various assistance: transporting pallets, loading and lifting heavy loads and stacking material, to name but a few. They were supported in the process by Kramer with four types of machines in long-time application: the 350 and 950 wheeled loaders, the 2506 compact telehandler and the 4009 telehandler. They were required for building the infrastructure, for the parking lots, the spectator areas and for the safety net on the jump. The entire Kramer fleet was hired by the event organiser, the Ski Club Partenkirchen, and outstandingly supervised by the company PUS from neighbouring Farchant. Jörg Bönisch, managing director of PUS, commented: For the first time, all tasks regarding the construction were taken care of exclusively with Kramer machines. It worked great! Incidentally, the next performance was waiting right afterwards: the preparations for the Special Olympics and the legendary horn sled race.
18 Kramer Allrad magazine PANORAMA PANORAMA Kramer Allrad magazine 19 Four questions about add-on equipment variety at Kramer Allrad An outstanding product feature of wheeled loaders, tele wheeled loaders and telehandlers from Kramer Allrad is their outstanding versatility. This ensures a high level of machine utilisation. In addition to the leading quality in terms of technology, it is exactly this diversity in application possibilities that make the Kramer machines, so popular. If a loader can be used throughout the year for various tasks, then there are many opportunities to permanently capture the hearts of the end users. Daniel Fechtig, product specialist at Kramer Allrad, answers the most important questions about the add-on equipment. Mr. Fechtig, standard wheeled loader models are usually equipped with a bucket and pallet fork. What advance options does a Kramer provide? A bucket and pallet fork cover about 60 to 70 percent of the applications. A Kramer is therefore openly and thoughtfully developed so that a variety of add-on equipment can be used for various requirements. For example, a rotary harrow for gardening and landscaping, a snow blade for winter service in communities, a recycling bucket or a light material bucket for applications in industry or even an asphalt milling machine for road and highway construction and civil engineering. Kramer machines, regardless of whether wheeled loaders, tele wheeled loaders or telehandlers, are simply universal equipment carriers for every imaginable application in practice. How are the attachments mounted to the machines? Is this very difficult? No, it is very quick and easy. All Kramer wheeled loaders are equipped with a hydraulic quick coupling system that makes a convenient tool change possible without any additional effort. This proven Kramer quick coupling system, which was introduced on the market in 1963 and has been continuously developed since then, is particularly distinguished by its high functionality. It is the result of five decades of experience in the development of quick couplers and this convinces end users straight away. Does a Kramer require special characteristics to carry add-on equipment? Yes, special options are essential for an efficient use of some add-on equipment. We have equipped the wheeled loader with a special hand throttle and low-speed control, which provides for safe and comfortable work with power flow add-on equipment. The one-piece frame and the choice of steering between all-wheel steering, front axle steering and crab steer guarantee safe steering of any add-on equipment. In addition, there are plug receptacles in the front and rear area for the operation of valves or lighting. In your opinion, which add-on equipment requires the highest technical requirements? That is certainly the snow blower. All important Kramer properties are used here. A high level of performance is required, which is ensured by the power flow performance hydraulics. The snow blower must also provide a perfect feeder and a well-regulated guide, otherwise the snow blower becomes clogged or does not offer the maximum performance. On the other hand, this is guaranteed by the combination of hand throttle and lowspeed control. The operator also needs a very good overview on all sides. For this purpose, we have also developed a 360 panoramic cabin with large wiper areas and perfect circumferential visibility. Of course, the machine must be fitted with snow chains and be extremely stable in any terrain. The snow blower is often used in areas with numerous slopes or on uneven terrain. It can also happen sometimes that the ground gives way. The Kramer machine concept provides the necessary safety reserves for this. Daniel Fechtig Product specialist at Kramer
