2 October 2, 2015 UPCOMING EVENTS Adoration Every Thursday Lower Church 9am - 5pm Student Council Friday, October 2 following 8:30 Mass all Commissioners along with Homeroom Representatives were inducted into Student Council for the school year. They were each called forth and received a pin that shows the rest of the student body that they are leaders of the school. May you lead the school by your Christ like examples. Congratulations! Cub Scouts Wednesday, October 7 Green Room 6pm Cub Scouts Thursday, October 7 Green Room 7pm Girl Scouts Thursday, October 8 Art Room 2:30pm Word with Children Sunday, October 11 9:30am Sunday, October 11 St. Joseph Building 11:00am Hot Meals Sunday, October 11 Cafeteria 5pm Attention Teens in grades 8-12 Teen JaM News We meet in the Upper Room in the Guardian Angel Building at St. Mary on the first Wednesday and the third Sunday of every month from 6-7:30 pm. If you want a place to meet new friends, be in a comfortable setting, be who you are, have the chance to be heard, and experience your faith join us in the Upper Room. Upcoming dates are: Wed. Oct. 7, Sun. Oct 18, Wed. Nov. 4, & Sun. Nov. 15. Ultimate Frisbee, Football & Picnic at St. Jude on Sunday, October 11 1pm - 3pm Meet us at the St. Jude pavilion. We ll play ultimate Frisbee, touch football, and share some food and refreshments. Hot dogs and pop will be provided. Please bring a food item to share with the group. Bring your friends also.

MARY Please keep the following in your prayers This week please remember the intentions in our intention book, our family and friends in need, those who have fallen away from the Church, and those going through difficult times: Ann Lou, Barb, Bette, Brooke, Carmen, Ceil, Chuck, Darlene, Dottie, Eli, Jim, Linda, Lois, Mary, Michael, Pat, P.J., Sarah, Shadia, Tom, Vicki and all who have asked for our prayers. Holy Land Gifts A representative from Holy Land Gifts will have items such as nativity scenes, crucifixes, rosaries, the last supper and many other beautiful religious articles on display and available for purchase after all Masses in the Weigand Room October 3 and 4. When you purchase a gift, you are helping artisans in the Holy Land provide for their families to live and work with dignity in a region fraught with tension. Please be sure to stop in. Volunteers are needed for the following activities during the months noted. If you are interested in sharing your talents, for these particular events please contact and your name will be given to the various committee chairs. If there is a need for volunteers for your group or committee, please contact Angie Pluta at ext. 224 and that information will be added to the Volunteer Corner. Your commitment to volunteer this year is essential in helping all at St. Mary Parish. 1. Hot Meals...2nd Sunday of the Month 2. Hot Meals.2nd, 3rd, 4th Tuesday Hot Meals Our Parish will be serving dinner Sunday, October 11 from 5-6 pm in the Cafeteria. Volunteers are always appreciated to serve or help with preparation at 3 pm. Thank you. Thank you Thank you for supporting the Cub Scout popcorn sale last weekend.

4 MADD Walk The Cub Scouts did the opening flag ceremony for the MADD walk on Saturday, September 26. They showed their patriotic and cougar spirit to all of the walkers. Parents I need your help! Do you have any pictures of CYO sports, or other SMS activities? I would like to put them in the Bells and highlight students participating in extracurricular activities. Send the pictures to Thank you! Afterschool Educational Enrichment Program We are continuing our Afterschool Educational Enrichment Program that was started last school year by Mrs. Karen Manning. These one hour classes are taught by parish or parent volunteers. This is the October through December schedule. Students may sign up for the following classes: Robotics (grades 5-8) begins Monday, Oct. 19 for 12 sessions Holiday cards for nursing homes - Halloween, Thanksgiving, & Christmas (all grades) begins Tuesday, Oct. 20 through Nov. 17 Painting - using leaves as patterns (all grades) begins Wednesday, Oct. 21 through Nov. 11 Fire safety (all grades) Thursday, Nov. 5 (one session) Christmas stories & carols (grades 1-4) begins Tuesday, Dec. 1 through Dec. 15

5 Respect Life Month October is Respect Life month. God made us in His image so we must remember to respect all life from conception to natural death. Keep in your prayers anyone dealing with these kinds of issues. The Rosary October is the month devoted to the Rosary. On October 7 at 1:00 pm in the upper church the school will be saying the Living Rosary. Come join them. Set aside some time this month for your own personal devotion to Mary and pray the Rosary.
