1 Triumph and Betrayal During those days, everyone in Israel knew that Jesus was a very special person. The message of Jesus attracted many followers. At the same time, more and more people began to dislike Jesus. There was no middle ground. The more people got to know about Jesus, the more they loved him or hated him. In Western Cultures, many sayings and phrases from this story have entered into the English language, with much symbolic meaning. References to Judas Kiss and Thirty Pieces of Silver are used to symbolize betrayal. Speak about being in a Gethsemane, and you are talking about a serious test or trial in your life. Mention the Last Supper, and everyone will think of
