1 Wedding Coordinator A volunteer liturgical wedding coordinator from Prince of Peace Catholic Community will be assigned to you and be present at your rehearsal and wedding ceremony. The coordinator will help arrange the church/chapel for the service requested and assist both at the rehearsal and at the ceremony. Please designate a family member or friend, rather than the liturgical wedding coordinator, to care for your personal items for security and safety. Hired wedding coordinators and/or consultants are not necessary, but are permitted to work in accordance with the assigned coordinator for the Liturgy and rehearsal at Prince of Peace. Associate Director of Worship/ Director of Music The Associate Director of Worship, Matthew Caporale, will assist you in further planning your wedding ceremony by assisting you in discerning and selecting the prayers, blessings, Scripture readings, and music. Use of Church Facilities The facilities available for use are the Main Church or the Mary Chapel. Below are the wedding times for this parish: The Main Church schedule is Saturday at 12:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. The Mary Chapel schedule is Saturday at 2:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. Special weekday times are permitted if the parish schedule allows. The Wedding party has the use of the church or chapel and areas for dressing for no more than one hour before the wedding and thirty minutes after the wedding ceremony concludes. The wedding ceremony must begin at the time scheduled. Wedding Rehearsal The time allotted for your wedding rehearsal is one hour. The rehearsal must start on time. All members of the wedding party, including attendants, ushers, parents, lectors, etc., are expected to be at the rehearsal.

2 At Prince of Peace Catholic Community, flowers and other décor are permitted as part of the wedding environment as long as they do not distract from the focus of the wedding (the exchange of consent) and/or cause damage to the buildings or furnishings. Church furnishings and liturgical decorations may not be changed or moved. The following policies are in place to ensure the appropriate placement and use of flowers, candles, and other décor, and to ensure that the beauty and sacredness of the church and chapel are respected and maintained. No decorations are required. The natural beauty of the church and its decor already enhance the dignity of the wedding ceremony. Special seasonal décor (Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter) may not be changed or moved. During these times, additional décor should be appropriate to the season. Please consult with the Office of Worship for this information. All existing plants, flowers, and pedestals in the church and chapel buildings are to be left in place. If flowers or plants are to be left in the church or chapel after the wedding ceremony, please inform the Office of Worship in advance. It is customary to leave the flowers in the church for weekend Masses. If you choose to donate your flowers, you may request a letter for tax purposes. To arrange this, consult the Office of Worship in advance. One or two floral arrangements may be used in the sanctuary space (altar area). This is in accord with the Church s documents on the liturgy. Sanctuary flowers should be large enough to be visible, but never obstruct the action of the liturgy. Flower arrangements may be used at the back of the pews (see the Map for placement of arrangements). Artificial bouquets, floral arrangements, greenery and/or plants are not permitted inside the Main Church or Mary Chapel at any time. otted plants are used, then they must have waterproof pot

3 Please use the utmost care not to scratch pews and chairs with pew decorations. The use of tape, Velcro, staples, clamps, floral pins, etc., is not allowed. Bows, greenery or floral sprays may be used only if attached with a ribbon loop. Flower petals (real or artificial) may not be thrown or dropped down the aisle. Rice, birdseed, confetti, flower petals, etc., may not under any circumstances be thrown on the church grounds. Carpet runners are not allowed. Existing sanctuary candles are used in the wedding ceremony. The candelabrum may be used, but the florist must provide adequate plastic floor covering under the candelabrum to protect the carpeting. The candelabrum must be non-drip. See Map for placement of candelabrum. Aisle candles may not be used. Remember, the focus of your marriage ceremony is your consent and the exchange of vows and rings. Other symbols may be used, as long as the focus is maintained on the consent and exchange of vows. Symbols must not be opposed to Catholic belief and teaching. The unity candle is not a part of the Catholic wedding ritual, but it may be used. The parish s unity candle stand is available for use at no charge, or a unity candle stand may be rented from a florist. If used, the couple must provide their own unity candle set (all 3 candles). Please see Map for placement of the unity candle stand. Adequate plastic protective covering also must be used under the unity candle stand to protect the carpeting/flooring. Couples may observe the Hispanic traditions of the lasso, the arras (coins), and the Bible/rosary. Only the unity candle or the lasso may be used, not both. The use of these symbols occurs after the exchange of rings. With the lasso tradition, those who present the arras, Bible/rosary, and lasso are seated in the congregation prior to the wedding and will be called up when it is time to present the symbols. They do not process in with the liturgical procession. The church and chapel are available for floral setup no earlier than one hour before the wedding. Florists, please respect this schedule. Florists are responsible for reclaiming any pedestals, etc., that they provide immediately after the ceremony. No items are to be left in the church or chapel for temporary storage. The church and chapel should be left in the same order as they were found. PLEASE GIVE A COPY OF THESE POLICIES TO YOUR FLORIST

4 Since the church is a sacred place of prayer and worship, appropriate professional and reverent behavior is expected at all times on church premises. The overriding principle for a photographer or videographer is to be inconspicuous and discreet. The taking of photographs must never distract the bride, groom, and their guests at the wedding from the Liturgy. Couples, please provide your photographer and/or videographer with a copy of Prince of Peace's wedding guidelines. Before contracting with these services, be sure that the following policies are acknowledged and will be followed: The photographer and videographer must check in with the wedding coordinator before the wedding begins. Pictures and video may be taken in the Main Church or Mary Chapel no earlier than one hour prior to the ceremony, and ending 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Setup of photographic equipment must be completed 20 minutes before the wedding begins. The wedding ceremony must start on time. The photographer and/or videographer are not allowed in the sanctuary or the area in front of/near the tabernacle (see Map included in this packet). The videographer is encouraged to remain stationary throughout the ceremony. Photos may be taken in the preparation areas. There is to be no artificial lighting or flash photography during the ceremony. Please do not stop or interrupt the procession once it has begun. All photos should be respectful of the sacredness of the church (no inappropriate poses). Picture taking after the ceremony is limited to 20 minutes immediately following the wedding.
