1 Healing MEMORY VERSE: Bottom Line: Mark 16:17-18, and these signs shall follow them that believe. they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. (KJV) The gift of healing is when the Holy Spirit supernaturally heals somebody. TO THE TEACHER: This week you will learn: 1. The gift of healing is supernatural healing. 2. When the gift of healing is in manifestation, healing happens right away. 3. Bible examples of healing. The gift of healing is supernatural healing. If you break your arm, your body will naturally heal itself. If you are blind and the Holy Spirit gives you sight, then that is supernatural healing. God anointed Jesus with healing power. Jesus had a special anointing to heal the sick. Acts 10:38 says, God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Before Jesus left the earth and went back to heaven, He told us to, Lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. We are to minister with the same healing anointing that Jesus had. Jesus spent a lot of time healing the sick. When the gifts of healing are in manifestation, then healings happen right away. Sometimes supernatural healings happen right away and sometimes it takes time. Either way you need to use your faith. With the gift of healing, the healings happen instantly. LESSON 11 PAGE 1

2 Bible examples of the gifts of healing: Lady with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25-34) Blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52) The lame man at the Gate Beautiful (Acts 3:1-16) Jesus told us to pray for the sick (Mark 16:17-18). Any believer can pray for the sick. The Bible didn t say, These signs shall follow them that believe who are over 12 years old. The Holy Spirit is the one who does the healing, not man. When children receive the Holy Spirit, they don t get a junior Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit can use the bones of a dead prophet to raise the dead, then He can use a living child. LESSON 11 PAGE 2

Not just for us, but for the whole world. Dr. Rubenstein enters carrying what looks like a pill. He is followed by Junior who carries a pad of paper and a pencil. Hello, hello, hello boys and girls. Oh good, you re here. Dr. Rubenstein, I got your text message about your new miracle pill. Yes, yes, it s all very exciting. Vhat (what) ve (we) can do vith (with) our discovery to help people will change the vorld (world) forever! Would you explain to the kids what you ve invented? Vhy (why) not? My nephew Junior and I vere (were) in the laboratory making smoothies and praying in the Spirit. You were making fruit smoothies? Yes, yes, they re delicious. Anyway, ve (we) vere (were) making the smoothies, mixing all sorts of ingredients, when the blender began to rumble. Bubbles began lifting the lid and then poof! What happened? 6 Dr.rubenstein: World s Best Smoothie Drama Script Continued Junior: Junior: Junior: Vell (well), ve (we) searched through the fog in the lab until we found the blender and vhen (when) we looked inside we discovered vhat (what) ve (we) had invented. A miracle pill that cures any illness or disease. It will even make missing body parts grow back! Do you mean to tell me this pill will cure anything? Yes, yes, it s quite remarkable, but be careful with it. It is the last one on Earth. The very last one? Yes, our batch only made enough miracle cure for seven pills and ve (we) used the other six to test its potency. Well, it s a good thing you can make more. Yes, Junior wrote down all the ingredients so we can make as much as the vorld (world) needs forever! Huh? Wrote them down? Yes, of course. Vhy (why) do you think I gave you the pencil and paper? Uh oh. Vhut (what) Uh-Oh? Vhut (what) is Uh-oh? I kinda, maybe sorta forgot to write down the ingredients! VHAT!!!! (what) Oh man. That can t be good. Okay, not to vorry (worry) We must be very careful with the one remaining pill so that ve (we) can reverse engineer the ingredients. Rubenstein hurries to take the pill from Teacher. 7 Dr.rubenstein: World s Best Smoothie Drama Script Continued Junior: Junior: My boy, ve (we) all make mistakes. Let s just get back quickly before anything wait, this is not the pill. This is an M & M candy. Oops! Maybe I got them mixed up at the lab. You ate the last remaining pill on the planet thinking it vas (was) a candy? You re a great inventor, Uncle Rubenstein. We ll just have to discover the correct combination of ingredients again. Yes, of course. We must start over immediately. The vorld (world) needs us. Good bye kids. Dr. Rubenstein and Junior exit. The good news is that God wants to heal people. There are many stories in the Bible where someone was sick and, through their faith in Jesus, were healed of diseases like leprosy, blindness, and all sorts of illnesses. We don t need some miracle pill. We are filled with the Spirit, so when we lay hands on the sick the Bible says they will recover. THE END LESSON 11 PAGE 7

8 Object lesson The Healing Anointing Scripture Reference: James 5:14-15 take home point: What You Need: One way to receive healing is to have the elders anoint you with oil. One bottle of baby oil. Object Lesson Application: One way to receive healing is to call for the elders of the church and have them anoint you with oil. The oil itself cannot heal you. The oil just gives you a point of contact to release your faith. (Put some oil on your finger and anoint the forehead of a child.) The oil represents the anointing or power of the Holy Spirit. The Bible says that, God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power. Then Jesus went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil. Before Jesus went back to heaven He told us to lay hands on the sick and they will recover. We have the same healing anointing that Jesus has. We have the same Holy Spirit that Jesus has. Sometimes when you pray for the sick you can actually feel the healing anointing go through your hands, but it doesn t matter if you feel something or not, you pray by faith. Sometimes people are afraid to pray because they think nothing is going to happen. Hey, what do you have to lose? The worst thing that can happen is they stay sick. It is not up to you anyway. Healing is the job of the Holy Spirit. Go ahead and walk by faith. Pray for the sick and trust God to do the healing. LESSON 11 PAGE 8

10 Jesus: Bring that man to me. Man: Bartimaeus, be of good comfort. Rise, He calleth you. Jesus! Hallelujah! (Man leads Bartimaeus to Jesus.) Jesus: Jesus: What do you want me to do for you? Lord, that I might receive my sight. Go your way. Your faith has made you whole. (Bartimaeus turns and begins to walk away then hesitates.) AH! AH! Hey, I can see! PRAISE JESUS! HALLELUJAH! I CAN SEE! THANK YOU, JESUS! To The Kids: What healed Bartimaeus? It was a combination of Bart s faith and Jesus power. The same power Jesus had to pray for the sick is available for you today. Ask the Holy Spirit to anoint you with healing power to pray for the sick and start praying. You don t have a junior Holy Spirit. You have the same Holy Spirit that Jesus had. LESSON 11 PAGE 10
