Area Data: Anahim Lake is a small service town at the west end of the Chilcotin Plateau 316 Km west of Williams Lake on Highway 20 (the Chilcotin Hwy). The town began to spring to life in the 1930 s with the establishment of a general store, freight destination for local ranchers, spirit sales and finally in 1938 the annual Anahim Lake Rodeo. Today the town supports all of the above including schools, church, health care, airport and a huge community spirit with a year round population of It is the gateway to wilderness fishing, hunting, hiking and horseback trips. Located by the foothills of the coastal mountain ranges the area abounds with lakes, rivers and trails that go on forever. Spotted with numerous cattle ranches agriculture, trapping, logging and mining have always been the main stay of the community. Today tourism is a welcome aspect to the community. The main service area for the Chilcotin is Williams Lake with B.C. s largest Stockyard, main hospital, industrial and agricultural dealerships, box stores and the list goes on. If Williams Lake doesn t have it you don t need it. Lehman Ranch General Description: The Lehman Ranch is one of the earlier ranches in the area with much of its development done by the Lehman family with early ditching, clearing and cultivating making it the most productive ranch acre for acre in the area. The ranch relies on most of its deeded land base for production and its huge crown range for grazing. There is adequate calving ground and early spring pasture with the cows returning to the hay meadows for late fall pasture. The present owner operates much the same way as the Lehmans did and have reestablished many of the past irrigation and drainage ditches. The fencing is all in good shape and the working facilities are well kept. This is working ranch with improvements and maintenance a daily occurrence.
