The second letter might close the deal, but the third may do even better However, know that the person receiving the letter may be slightly less excited to receive it then you were to send it. That doesn t mean you don t use a contract, but the industry standard is on a handshake. Sure, you may get burned but if you trust your instinct you ll be more attractive to people. Formal contracts repel some players. If they insist ask them to send their contract over as a sample for you to review. Prospecting Third Party Affiliates In this case, I m called the Third Party Affiliates, those that you create affiliate relationships with based on the Book Yourself Solid Product. You have 50% of the purchase price to do with what you will. If you find an organization that will give you access to 1000 potential clients, you may want to consider offering them 50% of your end, which is 25% of the retail purchase price. 7 Qualified leads must meet the following minimum requirements 1) Similar target market: exercise to define target market consider demographics (who and where clients are) and psychographics (why they buy) 2) Adding value principle: information, product or service absolutely must add value to their clients 3) Quality client list with relationship or quality product: (if doing endorsed mailings too) an active and organized list of clients that have a personal relationship with the list owner (database of clients that know who the list owner is and opens their mail) and are willing to make outside offers. Questions: Assuming the minimum requirements above are met, start to uncover the following How familiar is the affiliate prospect with me and my services? Ask questions about them before this education process starts. Biggest mistake of many sales situations is to dump a lot of information. People care about themselves find out business model operate in, challenges, accomplishments (If they stop you to answer questions or talk about your business by all means, do it! Just don t start vomiting information) Who is their target market? What do they do? What needs do they have? How much on average do clients spend? List owner questions: What is the composition of the list? Do they opt-in? Are they buyers, subscribers, or members? Who is the figure head? Is there a strong personality or endorser? How often are they contacting the list? What medium do they use to broadcast the message? 6

Clients and solutions. That s it other than that, feel free to learn more and dig deeper. List information: How many names? How did acquire the names? Who are they? What are buying patterns? Other offers responded to? Contract: Determine whether or not you will use a contract. Thousands of these have been done on a handshake, but if you want a sample contract here s what I use: Time frame: Determine how long the initial affiliate relationship will last? It can be anywhere from a 72 hour promotion to a permanent link to your site. Format mailings: Text mailing (use plain text message) HTML (with graphics) Responsiveness: Explain every aspect of your promotion or offer that has been tested, delivered and proven Give the affiliate partner your best idea of the responsiveness for similar lists (typically letter should pull 5 %). My conversation stats on this product are as high as 20% for this product to my list.
