2 Job Specification Position Title: Area Department: Reports to: Key Relationships: Canteen Manager Administration The Principal through the Business Manager The Canteen Manager will supervise the volunteer and paid casual members of the Canteen team Level/ Step: Level 3 The Canteen Manager will liaise with the Principal, Business Manager, Staff, Parents, Students Please refer to the attached Organisational Chart Award: Full time/ Part time: Formal qualifications: In accordance with the job classifications as detailed in the Prevailing Independent Schools Administrative & Technical Officers Award of the current Anglican Schools Commission Enterprise Agreement Part time contract position (0.67 Full Time Equivalent) 6 hours per day (8.30am to 2.30pm), five days per week for 40 weeks per year. 3 OVERVIEW CANTEEN MANAGER The School Peter Carnley Anglican Community School (PCACS) is a school of The Anglican Schools Commission (Inc) (ASC). The School opened in January 2007 in Wellard and caters for coeducational day students from Kindergarten to Year 12 enabling students to complete their schooling on the one campus. PCACS provides excellence in education, stressing high academic standards and the development of individual potential in a dynamic, caring and Christian environment. Position Summary The position of Canteen Manager plays an integral part in the daily operation of Peter Carnley Anglican Community School. The Canteen Manager should develop a sense of community and cooperation with students, parents and staff. The Manager should be creative with food and make visiting and using the Canteen an enjoyable experience for students, staff and parents. This position is responsible to the Principal through the Business Manager for the duties and responsibilities as detailed in this document in order to contribute toward the effective operation of the School Canteen. The Principal shall appoint all staff at the School. PA/Employees/Duty Statements/Canteen 3
4 DUTY STATEMENT CANTEEN MANAGER Responsibilities Duties related to the position include, but are not limited to the following: Supervise the operation of the Canteen on a day to day basis. Make decisions for a healthy canteen in conjunction with the Principal and Business Manager. Food preparation, ordering and management of the canteen staff. Responsible for the cleanliness of the canteen. Order using School Purchase orders, all requisite items and organise food preparation and point of sale. Responsible for the cleanliness of all canteen equipment and ensure that they are in good working order. Responsible for the securing of the canteen premises. Follow Workplace Health and Safety procedures. Ensure local Council policy and directions for Food Safe are implemented. Be responsible for all hygiene procedures within the Canteen. Liaise with the Business Manager regarding anything that has a financial implication. Be responsible for all money transactions and arrange Canteen banking for the School Finance Officer. Ensure that the delivery dockets and invoices are checked and authorised for payment before handing to the School Finance Officer for processing. Keep Canteen records in good order. Be responsible for stocktake recording and restocking, ensuring minimal wasteage. Coordinate purchasing with suppliers to obtain best pricing and quality. Set the menu and prices for each term in consultation with the Principal and Business Manager. Ensure that the Traffic Light System (School Canteen Association) is implemented as much as possible. Attend Canteen meetings as directed by the Principal and Business Manager. Write and display appropriate procedures in the Canteen. Attend professional development opportunities as required. Manage Canteen orders through Our Online Canteen. Any other duties as required by the Principal and Business Manager. Important note: No children are allowed into or to operate in the Canteen. 5 Staff Expectations Maintain professional confidentiality concerning information about staff and/or students. Ensure all students, staff and parents are provided with a quality service in a timely, efficient and friendly manner. Attend staff meetings when required including attendance at Staff Eucharists. Ensure that all documents are prepared and presented in accordance with the School s Writing Protocol. Act as a member of a team, developing and supporting the philosophy and ethos of the team. Take an active part in the general life of the School - supporting policies, procedures, aims and objectives in order to facilitate the day-to-day operation and promote a high quality of education within the School. Serve as a good ambassador of the School. This includes conducting oneself in accordance with the professional standards of the School, including being well-groomed and wearing the appropriate Uniform. Essential A high level of interpersonal skills. Excellent organisational and managerial skills. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Must possess traits of honesty, integrity and reliability. To be comfortable and competent in the handling of money. Possess a flexible attitude and openness to new ideas. Possess a positive child centred attitude. Must obtain a Working with Children Check and Federal Police Clearance. A clear commitment to the objectives and ethos of the Anglican education of the Anglican Schools Commission. Highly Desirable Experience in a school environment or service provider organisation. Experience in managing a team. Relevant qualifications and training in canteen operations. Qualifications in Food Technology/ Catering/ Chef Certificate III or IV. Personal Qualities Cheerful disposition. Demonstrate a high degree of discretion and confidentiality. Demonstrate initiative and personal organisation. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with a small team. Willingness to support the mission and values of The Anglican Schools Commission. Other A Class driver s licence. General There will be from time to time other duties that may be required. These will be at the discretion of the Principal and Business Manager. Team work is pivotal. 6 CONDITIONS, REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS Remuneration will be at The Anglican Schools Commission rates under the general terms and conditions of The Independent Schools Administrative and Technical Officers Award It is envisaged that this person will hold the highest level of experience and qualifications and as such, it is a salary based position paid at above award rates. This role is a part time contract position (0.67 Full Time Equivalent) 6 hours per day (8.30am to 2.30pm), five days per week for 40 weeks per year. That is 40 weeks during term time 10 weeks for each School Term through the year. Superannuation Guarantee contributions in accordance with Government regulations are payable by the School to an approved superannuation fund. Other conditions, entitlements and benefits will form part of a Contract of Employment.
