1 Helpful Hints for Cypress Grove TRANSPORTATION Know how you are getting to and from school on the first day and the rest of the year if different from the first day. BUS If you ride the bus, know your bus number. You can contact CSISD Transportation if you do not know the bus number or bus stop. ( ) CAR RIDERS Car riders are dropped off and picked up on the east side of the building ONLY. Please do not drop off in the front (buses drop off there) or the west side (Special Services buses drop off there; bicycle riders leave their bikes on this side as well). Refer to the drop off/pick up procedures handout for more information. WALKERS/BIKE RIDERS- These students enter the building through the side cafeteria doors. Have a rainy day plan established as well. MORNING ROUTINES: Students may enter the building at 7:50 am. Students are NOT supervised before 7:50 am. 5 th graders will report to the gym unless they eat breakfast. 6 th graders will report to the cafeteria. LUNCH Will your student bring their lunch or buy? If buying, make sure they have money with them or on their account. The cafeteria does NOT let students charge. 5 th GRADE LOCKERS Lockers are NOT assigned until students are taught how to open their lock. Locks are provided. Lost/broken locks cost $5.00 to replace. Students MUST have a lock on their locker. 6 TH GRADE LOCKERS Lockers are assigned on the first day by your FLEX Homeroom teacher. Locks are provided. Lost/broken locks cost $5.00 to replace. MEDICATIONS If you take medication at school, ALL medications must be brought to the school nurse in the original marked container by the parent and a form must be signed. WHAT TO WEAR All students must wear clothes that comply with the CSISD dress code. This can be found on the school and district websites. Students who are not in dress code compliance will not be allowed to be in class until appropriate clothes can be brought to them by a parent. TEXTBOOKS Books are distributed by teachers. Not all classes will require a textbook. Students/parents are financially responsible for the student s textbooks. If a student has lost or damaged books, a fine will be issued and must be paid before the student can get their next year s schedule. FIRST DAY RECOMMENDATIONS If parents want pictures, it is advised to do this during schedule pick up or when the student comes up on the Sunday walk through. Parents will not be allowed to walk with students to their first period class. Students need to make sure they have a copy of their schedule with them on the first day so they know where to go. Teachers do not have this information and students do not go together as a group from class to class. If a student is in Orchestra or Band, they are NOT to bring their instrument until their teacher instructs them. START/STOP TIMES We begin class at 8:25 am. If a student arrives after this time, they will be marked as tardy. We finish our day at 3:50 pm. Student will not be dismissed until then. FIRST WEEK CAR RIDER LINE This line will take longer than normal to get through so please be patient. It is advised to not try and be early. Coming later will get you through faster. FIRST WEEK WALKERS/BIKE RIDERS If you want to walk with your student, please wait for them outside on the front west side of the building. Walkers exit the building through the fine arts hallway exit but please do NOT wait there. Our Special Services buses are also loading there. Make a plan of where and when to meet. PARENT PARKING There are a limited number of parking spaces in the front of the building so parents can park in the faculty parking lot. Please DO NOT park in the fire lanes at the front or sides of the building.

2 Home Access Center (HAC) The Home Access Center (HAC) allows guardians to access their children's grades, attendance, and other important information. HAC login and passwords are available online for new users who have an on record with the school district. If you have an existing account, your login and password will remain the same. AFTER August 22 nd the website will be active. 3 Cypress Grove AM Arrival Procedures Doors open and breakfast begins at 7:50 a.m. Any students arriving prior to 7:50 a.m. should wait on the east side of campus under the breezeway. **In the case of inclement weather, it is not guaranteed that students will be allowed in the building prior to 7:50a.m. Please plan accordingly.** School starts at 8:25 a.m., and students arriving after 8:25 a.m. will be marked tardy. The first bell to send students to class rings at 8:17 a.m. 1. Walkers- Students should enter the building on the west side cafeteria doors. Students use sidewalks and crosswalks. 2. Bike riders- Always use the sidewalks and crosswalks that are provided. Students should dismount their bicycle as they make their way on to the campus grounds. Once they have secured their bicycle in the bike rack located adjacent to the west side entrance, immediately enter the building through the west side cafeteria door. 3. Car riders- In the east side driveway, form two lines to keep traffic from backing up into the street. Once you reach the bend in the driveway, you will merge into one lane for student drop off. Utilize the east side car drop off (opposite faculty parking), continue down the drive as far forward as possible before allowing your child to exit the vehicle. All students will enter through the 6 th grade hallway doors. Try to make every effort to have your child exit the vehicle from the driver s side. It is imperative that your child be prepared to exit the vehicle quickly and safely with all necessary items already in hand (lunches, instruments, and backpacks). We aim to unload about 10 cars at a time for a more efficient drop off, so have your child exit the vehicle once your vehicle has made it to the breezeway when traffic has stopped. Faculty members will be on the porch and at the 6 th grade door, but please do not wait for someone to open your child s door. If your child is not ready to exit when traffic begins to move, pull all the way forward past the lane barriers so that other cars may exit the drive.

4 Cypress Grove PM Pick-up Procedures School is dismissed at 3:50 p.m. *Walkers and Bike Riders will exit through the west side (faculty lot); please use the provided sidewalks and crosswalks. 1. When picking up a car rider please utilize the east side car drop off (opposite faculty parking). You will be provided a name plate to display in your car s dash; please have this out upon entering the car line. All vehicles are to start in two lanes and merge into one lane of traffic for student pick-up. Continue down the drive, and pull as far forward as possible. A staff member will be stationed near the building to communicate your name to a staff member under the breezeway. The students will be instructed to walk to a pick-up station that is designated by a number that is located on the post. If at all possible, please have your children enter the vehicle from the driver s side. As you pull out of pick-up line, be aware of oncoming traffic. 2. The front entrance is to be used for bus pick-up and administrative office business only. 3. Please drive SLOWLY through the campus and be patient with students, staff, and other parents. 4. Follow all directives from the teachers on duty. 5. At 4:10 p.m., any remaining students will be moved to the front entrance for pick-up.
