2 Spectator Code of Conduct Please be considerate to other spectators to ensure everyone can enjoy the event. Listen to the marshals - they are there to help you and ensure the event runs within the safety guidelines prescribed by the MSA, the governing body of UK Motor Sport. Marshals and officials have the right to work without being abused or threatened. Abusive, threatening or violent behaviour towards officials (who are all volunteers) will not be tolerated and spectators will be evicted from the event. Please take all litter home with you or place it in the bins or black bags provided for this purpose. Much of the Rally takes place in areas containing significant agricultural, forestry and nature conservation interests. Please follow the Countryside Code at all times. Consider your own safety and that of others at all time. Important Safety Information PLEASE plan your event with safety in mind. The following points may help: If you decide to leave the stage prior to the last competitor, PLEASE ensure that you walk on the pathways or behind the tree line. All the competitors will be travelling at high speeds and spectators are strongly advised NOT to walk on the rally route. All spectators are reminded that motorsport can be dangerous and despite us taking all reasonable precautions, unavoidable accidents can happen. In respect of these, you are present at your own risk. We ask that you obey all instructions of safety marshals, spectator marshals and police officers in relation to your safety and that of others. Please make sure you dress to take full account of the weather. Remember to wear sturdy footwear for typical forest conditions. Please be aware that the weather at the time of the event can be extremely cold. No dogs allowed on the event - disabled assistance dogs only (on leads at all times) Children and infants should ALWAYS be accompanied by an adequate amount of adults at all times who are responsible for their behaviour and safety.

Friday 21st February Scrutineering - from 17:00hrs Come and see the cars close up as they are checked for safety and event eligibility at Arnold Clark Peugeot, Harbour Road, Inverness. Please DO NOT PARK on Harbour Road. The enclosed maps give details of the car parking arrangements for the event. Please park responsibly remember that residents and emergency vehicles require to travel along the roads as well use the car parks provided all proceeds to local good causes. Please take your litter home with you and please don t take alcohol into the stages. Please drive slowly in all car parks. The Highland Car Club Ltd and the car park organisers take no responsibility for any damage to any vehicles using the car parks. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO GAIN ACCESS TO ANY OF THE STAGE STARTS OR FINISHES AS THERE IS NO PARKING AVAILABLE AT THESE LOCATIONS Saturday 22 nd February Start Ceremony First car starts at 09:15 hrs The cars are flagged away from The Thistle Hotel, Millburn Road, Inverness. SS1 John M Munro Scotch Beef Millbuie First car from 09:32 hrs The car park for this stage will be arrowed from Culbokie and Munlochy. Follow the marshals instructions and park as directed. This car park is on a forest road, therefore it will be rough in places. Follow the spectator route to the viewing area, only cross at the crossing point. Good viewing at the quarry at the top. SS2 Highland Office Equipment Ben Wyvis No spectator access. THERE IS NO SPECTATOR CAR PARKING AVAILABLE AT THIS STAGE SS3 Highland Appliance Services Rogie First car from 11:19 hrs The car park for this stage is off the A835 in Contin. Follow the signs into the car park. Take care crossing the A835 and follow the signs to the stage there is a short walk of 1.20 miles to the stage viewing area please obey the marshals instructions. SS4 ROM Mechanical Specialists - Top Car Strath Rory First car from 13:15 hrs Parking is available on a forest road off the B9176. Follow the marshals instructions and park as directed expect the road to be rough in places. You cannot leave this car park until the stage has been cleared after the last car the exit uses the stage route. Do not park on the B9176 you could receive a fixed penalty ticket!!! THERE IS NO SPECTATOR CAR PARKING AT THE FINISH OF THIS STAGE. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GAIN ACCESS TO THIS AREA - YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY. SS5 Highland Heating Management Scotsburn - First car from 13:40 hrs Car parking is available by following the signs from the A9 near Tain. There will be two car parks available. Use the shuttle bus to get to the stage.. Do not park on the verges please keep the access clear for emergency vehicles. All car parking charges go to the local organisations operating the car parks Finish Thistle Hotel, Inverness First car due back soon after 15:00 hrs The cars return to Inverness for the traditional champagne spraying ceremony and prize giving. 5 Follow the rally on Rally Spectator Safety After months of route preparation, organisers also have to take into consideration the regulations imposed by the governing body of motor sport for the safety of the competing crews and the safety of the spectators, who come out in all conditions to enjoy a sport which is a relatively low cost day s entertainment. Rallying in today s economic climate is costly due to fuel and forest charges so we are determined to make sure the competitors get value for money for their entry fee. The Snowman, being the first counter in the ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship is the event where competitors try to pick up maximum points and there is nothing worse than a crew losing out by having to back off due to spectators on the road - so please remember to keep back. Stage rallying is exciting to watch because of the close proximity between the spectator and the track compared to Formula one racing. At this year s Snowman the Special Stages are open one hour before the first car enters the stage, during this time all marshals will be deployed to their positions at the Stage Start or Stage Finish and throughout the stage. The role of the Spectator Marshal is to ensure that the area he or she is designated to, is safe so that the crews can rally at speed, without the fear of colliding with spectators, and most important of all, to advise you, the spectator where it is safe to stand and watch the rally. During the run up to the first car, various Course Cars proceed through the stage completing many different checks for safety and set up. These cars inform Rally Control whether a Stage is safe to run or not and whether there are any spectator issues. They have the power to stop a stage from running if they are not happy and will do this if they consider it necessary. With around 20 minutes before the time of the first car the Spectator Control vehicle go through the stage and will advise spectators where to stand, they will also inform Rally Control whether it is safe for the stage to run. The 00 car will be next. The final course car 0 will travel through the stage at rally speed to ensure the crowd have a taste of what to expect. If you decide to go spectating on the Snowman, please make sure you are well wrapped up and have the required footwear. Also at this time of year the forests are still at high risk of fire so the Forestry Commission would be grateful if you would refrain from smoking in the stages.
