2 automotive resources Fairview Educational Services Ltd (FEDS) is based in the Waikato and has been providing automotive training since We are a category one NZQA accredited provider based at Fairview Motors in Hamilton. We provide automotive resources to over 180 schools throughout New Zealand and deliver full-time courses in our purpose built training facility. The majority of unit standards available count towards automotive apprenticeships and Vocational Pathways qualifications. RESOURCES OVERVIEW: NEW FOR 016: GATEWAY PACKS 1 Gateway packs available Two additional units: We have several gateway packs available that are designed to suit students in a range of automotive and related workshops. Numeracy and standalone units Workbooks for unit standards at levels 1, and : 1688 Disassembling and reassembling a four stroke multi cylinder engine ( credits) Schools have access to additional supporting resources on the FEDS website including: : 5766 Vehicle safety systems and working on damaged systems (schools can assess) practice papers for all units revision activities option to complete workbook review questions and practice papers electronically web links to automotive You Tube videos Certificates issued to students when Gateway packs are completed Workbooks can be purchased for schools that teach automotive classes Boots and overalls can be supplied to schools at competitive prices 1 resources handbook 016 (4 credits) Additional Gateway Packs available: Engines Vehicle servicing Students can start on any of the packs FEDS marks all workbooks and assessments for the units in the Gateway packs The large majority of units in the Fairview Gateway packs count towards the Vocational Pathways Manufacturing and Technology Sector Engineering Motorcycles TASTER UNIT: Unit 1674 (terminology) is available to purchase as a single unit for $75 Please note if a Gateway pack is purchased when unit 1674 is completed $75 will be credited against the pack price of $90 Gateway Packs $90 each (price includes all marking) Price excludes GST and postage

6 STANDALONE UNITS Units: 15408/461/149/1857 The standalone units are written with an automotive focus but include key work and life skills. Many schools deliver these units to students across different curriculum areas. The majority of schools are accredited to assess these four units if they choose to or FEDS can mark and assess these units if preferred Describe motor vehicle safe motoring requirements and general 1 4 locations of systems and components (includes information on car ownership, vehicle documents, car maintenance, car grooming, tyres, fluid levels and vehicle components) 1857 Identify the occupational areas and structure of the NZ motor industry 1 (includes careers information for students interested in entering the motor industry) 461 Identify legal rights and obligations in relation to owning and operating a private motor vehicle (includes information on drivers licences, vehicle documents, vehicle insurance, legal protection when buying a car and vehicle checks) 149 Demonstrate knowledge of time management (includes information on time management, identifying and setting priorities, dealing with and minimising diversions) Options available for standalone units: OPTION 1: School marks the workbooks School marks the assessments School reports results to NZQA using School provider code School is responsible for moderation, both pre and post (assessments must be retained by school) NB. 7 NUMERACY PACK Units: 15408/461/1857/66 The numeracy pack includes unit standards 15408, 461 and 1857 with unit 66 embedded within these three units. By completing these three units over a period of time students can use the numeracy activities as evidence for unit 66. This combined pack of three workbooks (with one question booklet) covers four unit standards and totals 1 NCEA credits. Unit 66 counts towards the 10 numeracy credits required for NCEA level Describe motor vehicle safe motoring requirements and general locations of systems and components Identify the occupational areas and structure of the NZ motor industry Identify legal rights and obligations in relation to owning and operating a private motor vehicle 66 Use number to solve problems 1 4 Embedded tasks Total 1 The majority of schools are accredited to deliver and assess all four of these units or FEDS can mark and assess three of the units if preferred (school needs to assess unit 66).
