1.0 INTRODUCTION The Leader Pumps LMS Water Management System is designed to provide available water to your house always preferentially using rainwater as the best environmental option. Under the Plumbing Code of Australia, rainwater is the preferred option for supply of water to household toilets, washing machine and garden watering. Under normal conditions, when rainwater is available in your rainwater tank, the Leader pump system will deliver this water to the house. When the rainwater tank is emptied, the LMS System will detect the lack of rainwater and provide mains water to your house. above ground option in-tank option 90Ø downpipe POP within 1.5 of centre of tank 20mm female mm female Powerpoint within 1.2m of Aquamatic Not Used 20mm female 25mm female 700mm 1970 Delivery Hose 380mm 90Ø overflow pipe within 1.5 of side of tank

2.0 Precautions Plumbing regulations vary between Municipal Councils. Check with your local council to ensure that you meet their regulations. It is recommended that all plumbing work be performed by a licensed Plumber. All plumbing installations shall comply with the Plumbing Code of Australia. This will guarantee the integrity of the system and ensure warranty compliance. All plumbing fittings in contact with mains water will have Watermark approval. All electrical work including installation of power-points shall be performed by a licensed electrician. All electrical products and installation shall comply with the relevant Australian Standard. It is recommended to have your plumber install a manual bypass around the system to allow for future maintenance. This will enable mains water to be available to the toilets and washing machine when the pumping system is not functional. To protect this product and the end devices from debris, install a strainer in the mains and rainwater lines. Strainers should be inspected and cleaned regularly. In any doubt, ring the Leader Pumps Toll Free Number

3.0 Installation and Start-up 3.1 Surface Pump Positioning and connection to Rainwater Tank The positioning of your pump relative to your rainwater tank is very important. The best position for your pump is level or below the bottom of the rainwater tank as per diagram no. 1a. If this is not possible, like in the case of an underground tank, refer to diagram no. 1b. In both cases it is important that the pump is mounted on a flat solid surface that will not move in extreme weather conditions, such as rain. It is recommended that a concrete slab or a Leader Polyslab be used. It is essential that a pump cover is used to protect the pumping system from rain and sunlight. This will ensure long life from the system. When the pump is installed level or below the rainwater tank, follow the illustrations diagram no. 1b in diagram no.1a. It is recommended to use a Leader flexible suction line between the rainwater tank and pump. It is also recommended to use a Leader Y-strainer. When the pump is installed on top of the rainwater tank or at a level above the rainwater tank bottom, it is essential that a non-return valve (or foot valve) be installed at the lowest point of the suction line. A solid suction line is preferable with a Leader Y-strainer Connecting Mains Water diagram no. 1a Warning! Test the mains pressure BEFORE installing the LMS Water Management System. Maximum pressure on mains is 850KPa. If the pressure is above 750KPa a pressure reducer must be installed. Remember mains pressure in your area can change 6

according to current water demands. Excessive pressure will cause damage that is not covered by warranty. Mains water piping is to be connected to the Aquamatic on the ¾ female brass fitting. The ¾ brass fitting is a dual check valve that prevents flow back into the mains. It is essential that the dual check valve is held with a spanner before tightening the pipe. Warranty will be void if the correct tightening procedure is not followed. See diagram no.2 for illustrated details. Warning! It is also essential that the pipe work is not applying any load to the Aquamatic fitting. That is, the pipe work has to be supported and aligned so it does not stress the Aquamatic fittings. Damage caused by pipes stressing the unit is not warranty Connecting House delivery pipe House delivery pipe is to be connected to the 1 brass fitting on the Aquamatic. A brass union fitting is supplied to allow connection of the delivery pipe to the union before it is connected to the Aquamatic. It is essential that a spanner is used against the Aquamatic when any tightening is performed. This will ensure that there is no turning of fittings inside the Aquamatic. See diagram no.2 for illustrated details. IMPORTANT : DO NOT TURN MAINS WATER ONTO THE SYSTEM UNTIL UNIT IS POWERED. diagram no Float Switch Installation At the Rainwater Tank - Install the cable weight on the cable positioned approximately 150mm from the float. Install the cable through the top of the tank using the cable cap and gland provided. Install the float switch in the rainwater tank so the float is approximately 100mm above the suction outlet of the tank at full extension. Refer to Diagram No.3 Fit the cable gland directly into the top of the tank. Or use the cap provided. Attach the cable weight supplied. Set at least 150mm apart. Set at least 100mm above the tank outlet. diagram no. 3 7

Light Water Source Off Flashing On Mains Mains Tank PUMP At the Leader Water Management System The system comes with the float switch cable already connected to the Aquamatic. If the float switch cable needs to be lengthened or passed underground this may require disconnection and reconnection. Remove the two screws on the front of the Aquamatic allowing the cover to be removed. Note that the float switch is 12V so connection into the Aquamatic can be done without danger. The polarity of the cable does not matter, so either wire (black or brown) can be connected into either connector. Do not use the blue wire. See Diagram No.4 for guidance. electrical supply conforming to Australian Electrical Regulations This must include a l n=30ma safety switch. All electrical installations are to be performed by a Licensed Electrician. IMPORTANT : TURN POWER ONTO SYSTEM BEFORE OPENING MAINS WATER TO THE SYSTEM. diagram no Connecting the Pump diagram no. 4 Secure the float cable to power cable to the dual check valve of the Aquamatic with the cable ties provided. This will prevent damage caused by pulling of the cables Connecting Power The Leader Management System comes assembled with the relevant components plugged into each other. One remaining electrical cable and plug extends from the Aquamatic (as per Diagram No. 5). Connect this plug to your 240V electrical supply. The Leader Water Management System is only to be installed in an Above ground tank A valve should be already provided at the bottom of the rainwater tank. Connect the suction line from this valve to the suction connection on the pump. It is recommended to use a flexible suction hose of inside diameter of 25mm. (A flexible suction line is recommended because it will compensate for any movement in the rainwater tank when it goes from empty to full). It is also recommended to install a Y-strainer to remove any solid objects that may come through the rainwater tank. These objects could be left from the manufacturing process. Refer Diagram No.6a Do not use rigid piping on suction lines. Do not use elbows. Below ground tanks - A rigid suction line should be installed from the suction of 8

3.1.7 Priming the pump Valve Y Strainer diagram no. 6a Pump the pump, through the top of the tank to the bottom of the tank. A foot valve is to be installed at the lowest point of the suction line. The foot valve prevents the loss of water out of the suction line when the pump stops. This prevents loss of prime. Refer Diagram 6b. Surface pumps need to be filled with water before the first operation to allow them to remove the air out of the system. This only needs to be done once (first operation of pump). This is called priming of the pump. To do this, remove the priming plug located on the top of the pump casing. (Refer to Diagram no.7). Fill the pump casing with water and refit the plug. diagram no Starting the System a) Open rainwater tank valve b) Turn power onto the system. Wait for 20 seconds until solid green light is on Aquamatic. c) Open tap to test whether water flows or flush toilet. b) Open mains water to the system. diagram no. 6b When the power is first put onto the system, there will be a delay of about 20 seconds to enable the system to perform its internal testing process. After 20 seconds the Power On light shall be displayed on the Aquamatic to indicate that everything is operational. Refer Diagram No.8 9

This Controller allows the pump to start when you open a tap, flush the toilet or start the washing machine. It stops the pump automatically when you are finished. Refer Diagram No.9. It has three main functions. a) Automatic pump operation : The pump starts when the tap is turned on and stops the pump about 10 seconds after the tap is turned off. b) Provides constant flow and pressure c) Pump protection from dry running: The pump stops when there is no flow of water, thus preventing possible damage to the pump. The alarm is indicated by the LED called Failure on the front of the Automatic Pump Control. diagram no Submersible Pump Installing the pump The submersible pump can be installed in an above ground rainwater tank or a below ground rainwater tank as per Diagram No.10. There are two different systems dependent on whether the submersible pump has a control system built into the pump or whether the controller is external to the rainwater tank. It is recommended to install rigid pipe from the submersible pump internally to the top of the rainwater tank with a union connection under the top of the tank to allow the pump to be easily 10
