3 Who are you? My Name is Rolanda Arnold and I am a mother above all things. A soon to be licensed Cosmetologist. As well as soon to be Cerritos College graduate as of the end of spring 2013 with a Associates Degree. What I like about the profession I chose is that I am able to help others feel good about themselves. Being in a field where there is no such thing as a recession. It s a career path that will allow you to be yourself and do what you love. Truthfully I just love styling hair and working to enhance my skills. In Cosmetology I ve learned how a salon really works. How to advertise myself and keep a cliental. One thing that always stands out. Is how are you going to learn if you never try Ms. No favorite line. And that always stick with me.

4 Egyptian Clothing In 3000 BC the first clothing was made by the Egyptians Women wore dresses with shoulder straps, long tight pleated skirts made of linen or cotton The men wore short skirts made of lion cloth. Those who could afford jewelry wore Gold and Silver and Precious Stones. Those who couldn t wore Bronze and Copper. Most people went barefoot much of the time but they sometimes wore sandals made from papyrus. Babies were naked

Men Hair was shaved with only a long ponytail Babies hair was also shaved although there was a braid usually left on the side of the head Women wore wigs of long and short hair. 9 Egyptian Makeup Egyptian Make Up and Cosmetics Both men and women, wore very distinct eye make up, rouge and perfumed oils that softened the skin and prevented burning in the sun and damage from the sandy winds. Not only did the men and women of Egypt wear make up but also the statues of their gods and goddesses were adorned with all these different types of cosmetics. The higher the status of the person the more clothes and make-up they wore. Nail Polish and Hair Color Ancient Egyptians used a form of henna to paint their nails and color their hair. The color and condition of nails have long been an indication of social status. The coloring used by Ancient Egyptian in this type make up was achieved by the use of henna. Perfumes and Oils The Ancient Egyptians used numerous perfumes obtained from the fragrances derived from flowers, plants, seeds. They were blended into a cream made from animal fats and oils such as the expensive oil called balanos or the more common castor oil. The Ancient Egyptians also used myrrh, frankincense, cardamom and cinnamon to mix their perfumes. wealthy woman s typical beauty regiment might begin with her waking in the morning and applying incense pellets to her underarms as a form of deodorant

12 Ancient Egyptian Inventions Sun Calendar Ancient civilizations marked time using the lunar calendars. The Egyptians were the first to have established a solar calendar consisting of twelve months, each of which had 30 days plus 5 extra days at the end of the year. They made the first leap year calendar in 238 B.C. and added an extra day every fourth year Invention of Glass The origins of glass are unknown, but glass beads were used in Egypt as early as 2500 BC. Glass was also often used in Mesopotamia and Egypt to adorn furniture and vessels. The Pyramids: The word pyramids have become synonymous with the tombs of the Egyptian Pharaohs. From structures in ancient Greece to the Louvre in Paris, France, pyramids have been used throughout history by man to build temples, tombs and museums. However, the world got its first pyramid in the form of the Step Pyramid at Saqqara that was built in 2750 B.C. for King Zoser of the third dynasty of Egyptian kings. Before this the Egyptian kings would be buried in rectangular mud-brick tomb called a Mastaba. However, King Zoser's architect Imhotep placed a number of mastabas of decreasing size one on top of the other to make the world's first pyramid.

13 My Model My model name is Tiffany Johnson and I chose her as a model so that I can transform her into a actual Egyptian Goddess. Picking someone who wouldn t normally go out of their comfort and with seeing finishing results she can look at herself and say, wow that is me!

14 Lesson Learned What I learned about this project is that Cleopatra is known for the invention in make-up How the Egyptian wore certain jewelry to acknowledge their religion The difficult part of this project was making sure the dates was accurate and finding original pictures of this Era. But overall remaking this look was the overall best part of this project The easiest part was putting the actual look together This project prepares you for working on a movie set or theatre it teaches you to research so that you have a better understanding to meet the client needs and expectation and with education you will have a successful future in this business. This will better me as a stylist as well as a individual. Because when you put out great work you will be rewarded with success and a name for yourself for being one of the best Limiting yourself will limit your career.
