2 Estimated duration of the program : 60 hours 120 hours Type of instruction : One on one Table 1: Expected Achievement of the student S: Speaking skill, L: Listening skill, R: Reaading Skill, W: Writing Skill TIME 60 hours 120 hours S L R W S L R W THE EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENT able to maintain predictable face-to-face conversations about basic needs with native speakers who are used to dealing with foreigners able to understand face-to-face conversations about basic needs in the standard variety with frequent repetitions able to recognize and articulate all letters/syllabaries/ high frequency characters, and read aloud and comprehend short, simple sentences. able to write short, simple sentences in Roman script, symbols of syllabary, or with high frequency characters, to satisfy basic need Able to converse with most speakers not used to dealing with foreigners, to satisfy a wide range of social needs and complete a limited range of profession-related tasks Able to understand a wider range of face-to-face conversations, as well as a limited range of specialist / profession-related conversations. Able to read and understand authentic texts of a social and factual nature to satisfy a wide range of social requirements and complete a limited range of profession-related tasks. 4 1. The student will receive instructions in the classroom settings. 2. In the classroom settings, the teacher will use visual and other teaching aids to help the student in learning. 3. After every several hours (depends on the student s achievement) the student will aplly the language skill he/she learned in the real life. 4. These real-life activities will vary, ranging from daily survival level to more advanced level. 5. These real-life activities may include: o ordering meals in nearby restaurants o bargaining in traditional market/art market o giving directions to the driver o visiting a tourism site to listen the guide explaining in Indonesian. o visiting a partner organization to inquire about the work/project they are doing 6. The above mentioned real life activities are only examples of the usual Cinta Bahasa activities, since we understand that each student will have different purpose and intention on how to use the language. 7. Student will do 2 field trips with their teachers. 8. Student will get lunch in the school. 9. There s 3 to 4 sessions in one day. One session is 1.5 hour. 10. There s 2 teachers teaching for the whole sessions. 11. Please note that the training programs can be changed depend on the situation, needs, and other things that occur during the training. 12. Students will get initial & final assessment and certificate by the end of the course., main hall 4 Yayasan Indonesia
