8 Arlington Independent School District Rules of Conduct Please adhere to the following rules of conduct to avoid disciplinary action up to and including the possibility of termination. 1. Use of liquor at work, coming to work under the influence of liquor, or missing work because of being under the influence of alcohol. 2. Illegal use of drugs, illegal possession of drugs, or illegal sale of drugs, or illegal handling of drugs is prohibited. 3. Smoking on school property is prohibited. 4. Eating in other than specified areas is prohibited. 5. Unauthorized removal of property belonging to the employer, other employees, students, guests, etc. is prohibited. 6. Insubordination, not carrying out reasonable requests made by supervisory personnel is prohibited. 7. Inadequate or deficient work performance, either deliberate or because of a lack of capability, is cause for disciplinary action. 8. A lack of interest or appropriate application to one s work is cause for disciplinary action. 9. Personal phone calls, outgoing or incoming, except in cases of extreme emergency are prohibited. 10. Spreading rumors and/or gossip is prohibited. 11. Unauthorized release of information regarding school system, employees, students, parents, etc. is prohibited. 12. Falsification of employment application or any other district records is cause for termination. 13. Unexcused absences or excessive tardiness is cause for disciplinary action. 14. Failure to notify immediate supervisor when unexpected absence or tardiness prevents employee for reporting to work as scheduled is cause for disciplinary action. 15. Violation of health or safety rules is cause for disciplinary action. 16. Willful destruction of district property or the property of others is cause for disciplinary action. 17. Fighting and any other attempt to injure another person is cause for disciplinary action. 18. Lack of courtesy to students, employees, parents, or guests is cause for disciplinary action. 19. Leaving a work assignment without legitimate reason, permission of a supervisor, or proper relief during an absence is cause for disciplinary action. 20. Solicitation of donations, etc., unless cleared through proper administrative personnel is cause for disciplinary action. 21. Failure to report becoming ill while on duty to your supervisor before leaving is cause for disciplinary action. 22. Radical departure from conventional dress or person grooming habits is cause for disciplinary action. 23. Fraternizing with students (including dating) is strictly prohibited and is cause for disciplinary action. 24. The use of a personal cell phone during work hours is for work related activities only. 25. Wearing headsets during work hours (radios, cd players, ipods, etc.) is cause for disciplinary action. 9 NOTIFICATION TO NEW EMPLOYEES WORKERS' COMPENSATION The Arlington ISD has self-insured workers' compensation coverage for your protection. More information about your workers' compensation rights may be obtained from any office of the Texas Workers' Compensation Commission or by calling 800/ DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE POLICY The purpose of this policy is to eliminate drug abuse from the workplace so that a safe, healthy and productive work environment will be ensured. Accordingly, the AISD prohibits the unlawful possession, manufacture, distribution or use of illicit drugs and alcohol on school premises, at any time during working hours, or at any school-related activity. Prohibited substances are illegal drugs, misused prescription drugs, alcoholic beverages, inhalants, and any other intoxicant. The term "drugs" includes the above substances. (This policy excludes prescription drugs when taken as directed by the employee's doctor.) Compliance with this policy is mandatory and a condition of employment. An employee who violates this policy will be subject to disciplinary measure; referral to an appropriate counseling or rehabilitation program, termination of employment, and/or to law enforcement officials for prosecution. EMPLOYEE STANDARDS OF ETHICAL CONDUCT PROGRAM The code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators may be referred to in the {Board Policy DH & DH (Local)}. Employees are requested to refer to the appropriate employee handbook and review the ethics guidelines.
