1 Wound and Hyperbaric Symposium Friday, September 16, :00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Location: Kalahari NIA Convention Center 7100 Kalahari Drive Sandusky, Ohio INTRODUCTION The focus of the activity will be to emphasize new advances in wound healing, management of biofilm, involving physical therapy and other ancillary services in wound management protocols, mastering state survey preparation in the extended care facility, ensuring nutritional principles in wound healing, recognizing the pathophysiology of and need for glycemic control in diabetic foot ulcers, and the role of HBOT in wound management. We welcome many local, regional, and national speakers who are subject matter experts and well known in the fields of wound management and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Vascular surgeons, family physicians, general surgeons, plastic surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, endocrinologists, emergency room physicians, infectious disease physicians, orthopaedists, oncologists, podiatrists, as well as nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, residents, students, and other health care professionals who deal with the wound care patient will benefit from the multi-disciplinary and comprehensive approach to this educational event.

Clarify the profit and loss for wound hyperbaric centers. Discuss wounds and nutrition case study. Discuss arterial ulcers and diabetes. Comprehend the basic pathophysiology and clinical presentation of venous ulcers. Recognize the principles of uses of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in diabetic foot ulcers. Differentiate the new active dressings and their application. Recognize/identify charcot arthropathy and offer non-surgical treatment options. Comprehend the role of genetic therapy and stem cell therapy.
4 ACCREDITATIONS The University of Toledo is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Toledo designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This Live activity, Wound and Hyperbaric Symposium, with a beginning date of 09/16/2016, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 7.50 Prescribed Credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
