Recommended Assembly Guide for Mito Tools & Supplies for Phase 1 In order that you enjoy Mito! Use this assembly method to best maintain a stable posture and poses for your Mito doll. Elastic for Arm 90cm Elastic for Torso 75cm 2 Armature 15 Pieces Armature + joint 1 Piece Armature 20 Pieces 2 Hose 4.5cm 4 1 Combination pliers 2 Long-nose or radio pliers 3 Doll head buttons 20mm (Kemper Item DH20) 4 Small S-hooks 17mm (Kemper Item HSS) 5 Epoxy putty stick (light in color and with a slow drying time) 6 Retractable knife 7 Metal earpick or small palette knife 8 Tweezers with a thin point 9 Soft leather of 1.5mm in thickness (4cm x 4cm square) 10 Leather scissors Tool for Phases 2 & 3 Elastic for Leg 220cm + joints (61517+X) Hole is open Do Not Use y joints (81518-J) Hole is not open NOTE: Because the hole is not open, 3/16 y-joints cannot be used. Choose a soft vinyl hose that is wide enough to leave room inside after the armature is inserted Cellophane tape Elastic small 3/32 (Kemper Item ECC2); 4.6m total needed (about 5 yards) Armature coils 3/16 (Kemper Item ) Armature + joint 3/16 (Kemper Item X); see photo Armature pliers 3/16 (Kemper Item P) 5 6 Craft scissors 7 Long-nose or radio pliers 8 Hemostatic forceps 9 Rubber scrubber (Kemper Item RS220); cut one side of it from the edge to the center so elastic can pass through 10 Tweezers with a thin point 11 Soft vinyl hose (18cm length x 2cm diameter); see photo

PhaseⅠ 1. Bend S-hooks with pliers as shown above. 2. When making the hooks for the feet, use two pliers as shown above. 3. Only cut as much of the epoxy putty stick as you will need for the hands and feet. 4. Mix the putty thoroughly until the color becomes uniform. 5. Fully pack the inside of the foot with putty. The foot will become heavy, which means the doll s center of gravity will be steady. 6. Insert S-hook into the putty. To prevent contact with the ball parts, the top of the hook must not protrude beyond the opening of the foot. 7. Using the metal earpick or a small palette knife, compress and smooth the surface of the putty into the form of a crater around the top of the hook. 8. Make sure that the elastic can pass through the top of the hook. 9. Repeat the procedure for the other foot, and then put them aside while the putty hardens. 10. Fully pack the inside of the hand with putty. 11. Insert S-hook into the putty. To prevent contact with the ball parts, the top of the hook must not protrude beyond the opening of the hand. 12. Using the metal earpick or a small palette knife, compress and smooth the surface of the putty into the form of a crater around the top of the hook.

13. Make sure that the elastic can pass 14. Repeat the procedure for the 15. Hang the S-hook on the doll through the top of the hook. other hand, and then put them aside head button as shown. while the putty hardens. 16. Using the radio pliers, bend the 17. It becomes like this. hooks in two places as shown above. 18. Using the leather scissors, cut the leather into a circle with a 4cm diameter. 19. Cut a small slit in the center of the leather circle. 20. Insert the hook of the doll head into the slit in the leather circle. 21. Place the doll head button into the head of the doll. 22. It becomes like this.

PhaseⅡ 1. Line all the leg and torso joints 2. Cut a piece of elastic 220cm ( Tightly wrap the ends of the elastic with thin leather. Refer to the inches), and run it through the hook with tape. Use enough to keep the guide called "Procedure for Lining Joints with Leather". of the right foot until you have two ends of equal length. ends together, but not so much that it cannot go through the armature coils. 4. Run the end of the elastic through 5. The leg uses 20 armature coils. 6. Feed the end of the elastic through the parts of the right leg. Be sure to use the correct parts; the larger hole in each ball part should face upward. It is best to work with sections of four coils at a time. the smaller opening of the coils, little by little. Use the radio pliers if it is difficult to push it through by hand. 7. When the elastic reaches the other 8. Finish feeding the elastic through 9. Connect the armature coils using end, pull it out with tweezers. all 20 armature coils. the armature pliers. 10. Now run the elastic through the armature + joint. 11. Connect the + joint with the armature. 12. The other leg also uses 20 coils. Because the elastic must go through the large openings of the coils, it is best to work with lengths of two coils at a time.

13. Use the radio pliers to feed the elastic through the coils. It is more difficult to pass the elastic through the larger openings. 14. Grip the elastic with the pliers and push it inside until the elastic comes through the smaller opening. 15. Connect the armature with the + joint. 16. Now the armature for the legs is completed. 17. Curl the armature around as shown. 18. Pass the armature through the right side of the lower torso, and leave the + joint positioned in the center of the lower torso. 19. Insert the armature into the parts of the right leg. 20. It becomes like this. 21. Lift up the + joint through the top of the lower torso. 22. (Close-up image) 23. Connect 15 pieces of armature coils for the spine. Align them with the large openings facing downward, and then connect them to the + joint. 24. Do this slowly and carefully. Use your fingers to prevent the pliers from knocking against the bisque.

25. It becomes like this. 26. Cut a piece of elastic 75cm (29.5 inches), and run it around the top of the leg armature, just to the right side of the + joint. 27. Tie the elastic twice at its centerpoint. 28. Cut another piece of elastic 75cm, and tie it in the same way, this time on the left side of the + joint. In the photo, right is blue and left is green. 29. Now tie the right and left pieces of elastic together twice on the back side. 30. Repeat on the front side. 31. It becomes like this. 32. This is done to help bring together the parts of the leg, and to draw them closer to the body. 33. With the left-leg armature neatly arranged, slowly pull the elastic. If you pull too hard, the armature could cause parts of the right leg to break. 34. Confirm that there is enough tension as well as joint motion in the right leg. 35. Insert the armature into the parts of the left leg, except the ankle ball and the foot. Remember the larger hole in each ball part should face up. 36. Work with a helper on this step. One person can hold the lower leg and pull the elastic.

37. The other person can position the pre-cut scrubber over the elastic (to protect the bisque) and apply the forceps as shown above. 38. Leave about 18cm (7 inches) of elastic and cut off the remaining lengths. 39. Run one of the two pieces of elastic through the larger hole of the ankle ball. 40. Now run it through the hook of the foot. 41. And then run it up through the ankle ball again. 42. Tie the elastic twice. 43. While one person holds the lower leg and pulls gently on the foot and ankle ball, the other person removes the scrubber and forceps. 44. Before releasing the foot, push the remaining elastic up into the lower leg. 45. If the two ends of the left torso elastic are uneven, cut the longer one to the same length and then wrap tape around them. Repeat for the right side. 46. Take the 18cm (7-inch) vinyl hose and cut it into 4 equal sections of 4.5cm (1 ¾ inches) each. 47. Place each section of hose over the spine armature as shown. 48. It becomes like this.

49. Pass the armature and elastic through the torso ball. 50. Pass the armature and elastic through the upper torso. 51. It becomes like this. 52. Work with a helper on steps One person holds the upper torso and pulls the elastic. 53. The other person can position the pre-cut scrubber over the elastic (to protect the bisque) and apply the forceps as shown above. 54. Tie the elastic twice. 55. While one person holds the upper torso and slightly pulls the elastic, the other person adjusts the forceps to allow room for the hook of the head. 56. Pass the hook of the head through the elastic. 57. While one person holds the lower leg and pulls gently on the foot, the other person removes the scrubber and forceps. 58. Before releasing the head, cut the remaining elastic, leaving about 5cm (2 inches) that is stuffed into the neck.

PhaseⅢ 1. Line all the arm joints with thin leather. Refer to the guide called "Procedure for Lining Joints with Leather". 2. Cut a piece of elastic 90cm (35.4 inches), and run it through the hook of the right hand using the tweezers. 3. Make sure the hand is placed so that the two ends of elastic are of equal length. 4. Loosely wrap the ends of the elastic with tape. 5. Run the end of the elastic through the parts of the right arm. Be sure to use the correct parts; the larger hole in each ball part should face upward. 6. Now run the elastic through the shoulder hole in the upper torso. 7. Make sure the arm elastic passes between the armature and the torso elastic inside. 8. Run the elastic through the upper arm, ball and lower arm. Pull on the elastic while the other person places the scrubber and forceps. 9. Now cut the tape at the ends of the elastic to separate the ends. 10. Run one of the two pieces of elastic through the larger hole of the wrist ball. 11. Now run it through the hook of the hand. 12. And then run it up through the wrist ball again.

13. Tie the elastic twice. 14. While one person holds the lower arm and pulls gently on the hand and wrist ball, the other person removes the scrubber and forceps. 15. Before releasing the hand, push the remaining elastic up into the lower arm. Last Update: September 17, New York Doll Products, Inc.
