When the Diagnosis is Psoriasis, the Treatment is Clear. XTRAC. 95% Clear. And No Side Effects.

Live Clear. Live Free. Of all autoimmune diseases, psoriasis is the most common with nearly 7.5 million Americans affected. Studies indicate that psoriasis does not discriminate between males and females afflicting both at about the same rate. Caucasians, however, develop psoriasis more frequently than other races. Psoriasis is a chronic disease with no known cure but it can be put into prolonged remission with treatments that manage its symptoms and clear its visible signs. And one of the most effective is the XTRAC light treatment, the only FDA-cleared excimer laser clinically proven to slow and reverse the growth of psoriatic cells. Unlike conventional light therapies, the XTRAC excimer laser delivers a highly targeted therapeutic beam of UVB light to areas of the skin affected by psoriasis without harming the surrounding skin so you can LIVE CLEAR. 4 Psoriasis is a complex disease and while its precise cause is not fully understood, scientists know that the immune system and genes play key roles in its development. Researchers studying the immune system have learned that T cells* mistakenly trigger a reaction in the skin cells. The reaction activates a cascade of events, causing new skin cells to surface in days rather than weeks and accumulate on the skin s surface. The reason T cells trigger this reaction seems to lie in cell DNA and inherited genes. And, while scientists are still trying to identify all of the genes involved, they have discovered that one which regulates how the immune system fights infection is involved. Scientists have also learned that not everyone who inherits genes for psoriasis develops it. For psoriasis to appear, it seems that a person must inherit the right mix of genes and be exposed to a trigger, commonly stress, a skin injury or a strep (throat) infection. Triggers, however, are not universal and what triggers psoriasis in one person may not cause it to develop in another. Psoriasis is an unpredictable disease. It may be limited to a few lesions or may involve moderate to large areas of skin. When less than 3% of the body is affected by psoriasis, it is considered mild; 3 to 10% of the body psoriasis is considered moderate and more than 10% is considered severe. (For most individuals, the palm of the hand is about the same as 1% of the skin surface.)** * T Cells white blood cells intended to fight unwanted invaders such as bacteria and viruses. ** National Psoriasis Foundation LiveXtracClear.com 8

Generally, These are the Major Types of Psoriasis You Should Know about. Plaque is the most common form of psoriasis, characterized by raised, inflamed, red lesions covered by silvery white scales. Typically, it surfaces on elbows, knees, scalp, and the lower back. Nearly 80% of those who have the disease are diagnosed with plaque psoriasis. Guttate frequently emerges in childhood or young adulthood, appearing as small, red, individual spots on the torso, arms, and legs after a bacterial (strep) infection. Guttate psoriasis often clears on its own without treatment. Scalp psoriasis is very common, affecting up to 80% of all psoriasis patients. As with psoriasis elsewhere on the body, scalp psoriasis can be mild, with slight, fine scaling but it can also be severe with thick, plaques covering the entire scalp.the visible signs often extend beyond the hairline onto the forehead, the back of the neck and around the ears. While it is true that those with scalp psoriasis generally have psoriasis on other parts of their bodies, in some the scalp is the only affected area. Inverse surfaces as bright-red lesions that are smooth and shiny in the armpits, groin, under the breasts, and in other skin folds around the genitals and the buttocks. Pustular is an adult disease, characterized by white blisters of noninfectious pus surrounded by red skin. It may either be localized to certain areas of the body, such as the hands and feet, or generalized affecting most of the body. Erythrodermic is an inflammatory form of psoriasis, characterized by periodic, widespread, fiery redness of the skin and a shedding of the scales in sheets. Typically, it affects most of the body surface. Because of the shielding effect of hair, traditional UVB lamp therapy is not very effective against scalp psoriasis. However, studies have reported success in treating with the 308 nm excimer laser which generates a targeted beam of UVB light. In one study 35 patients whose scalp psoriasis had previously failed to respond to topical medication were treated with the [XTRAC] 308 nm laser twice a week for an average of 21 treatments. At conclusion of the study, 50% of the patients, psoriasis cleared or almost cleared (greater than 95% improvement) and nearly all of the patients improved by at least 50%. [1] You Are Not Alone According to statistics, about 2-3% of general population on the Planet Earth suffers from psoriasis. In other words, approximately million people have psoriasis.* Dermatologists treat the disease based on the severity of its symptoms, the psoriasis type and the patient s response to treatment. However, the severity of psoriasis can also be measured by how psoriasis affects the quality of life a factor we know is as important as any since psoriasis can have a serious impact on life, even if it affects just a small area. While treating psoriasis is critical to good disease management and overall health, our purpose centers on providing a treatment that reduces or eliminates psoriasis symptoms and puts them into prolonged remission. 1 Morison, WL et al. 7 XTRAC is the only FDA-cleared, clinically proven excimer laser that gets skin clear of psoriasis and it works fast, with many patients seeing significant improvement and long-lasting remissions. Because XTRAC delivers a highly targeted, therapeutic beam of UVB light only to areas of the skin affected by psoriasis, healthy skin surrounding the lesions stays that way. In clinical studies Patients achieved a > 95% clearance in just over 10 treatments [2] and at least 75% clearing in an average of 6.2 treaments. [3] The number of treatments up to complete clearance was 8 to 10. [4] Patients have shown clear improvement. In some, the psoriatic lesion was still absent after 1 year, while in others, there had been long term improvement. [5] XTRAC has proven to be effective in treating thick, scaled plaques on the knees and elbows, which are often resistant to any conventional treatment. 8 A national survey provides compelling evidence that psoriasis sufferers, regardless of the severity of their disease, are frustrated with the management of their disease and what they believe to be the ineffectiveness of their therapies. XTRAC patients and physicians, however, tell quite another story... living clear in the world The I just can t say what a good feeling it is not to see those ugly scales when I raise my arms or look in the mirror. After six treatments, they were gone. It is just amazing. XTRAC is the best thing that ever happened to me. Every time I pass a mirror, I have to look, because I just can t believe it s gone. N.R., Bethlehem, PA A psoriasis sufferer since1983 * Results may vary be each patient XTRAC excimer laser is a successful approach to treatment of psoriasis of the scalp being a simple treatment that can be performed in a short period of time and which has a high rate of effectiveness. Warwick Morison, M.B., B.S., M.D., M.R.C.P., Professor of Dermatology, Johns Hopkins University at Green Spring, Lutherville, MD usually after the 3rd or 4th treatment. After their psoriasis is improved, many patients have a period of remission, The XTRAC treatments are painless, safe and take only minutes. Patients start to see results where their disease stays away for several months...this laser induced remission is especially exciting to patients who have not worn shorts or bathing suits in years because they were too embarrassed to let anyone see their skin. Patients tell me that this is like a vacation. Rochelle R. 9 Overall, the XTRAC Excimer Laser truly works the way we expected it would. Patients love it. They love seeing clearing and they love the convenience of fewer treatment sessions compared to conventional phototherapy. The laser is a quantum leap forward for psoriasis treatment. It will be an integral treatment for localized psoriasis. This much more efficient treatment regimen [XTRAC] insures higher patient compliance and results in much greater self-esteem, decreased psychological distress and improved quality of life. Richard E. Fitzpatrick, M.D., Dermatology Associates of San Diego County and Associate Clinical Professor at UCSD and at Mercy Hospital in San Diego Under the XTRAC treatment, I have seen, by far, the best results. In fact, my psoriasis has almost completely cleared up and will most likely be gone over the summer. D.H., Marietta, GA I could not wear short-sleeved shirts for fear that someone would notice. I was totally embarrassed by my red, flaky, scary looking skin. Now, my elbows are completely clear! Even the discoloration that occurred during the treatments has almost disappeared! I can t believe what a difference XTRAC has made. M.M., Des Moines, IA

For some people, psoriasis is a nuisance. For others, it affects every aspect of life. Today psoriasis cannot be cured but advanced treatments like XTRAC make sending it into prolonged remission possible, even highly probable. XTRAC clears the symptoms, prolongs the remission and returns skin to a clinically healthy state in record time. All of which means XTRAC delivers consistently predictable results so patients experience more good days of living than bad. Frequently Asked Questions Before Treatment after Treatment Who should consider the XTRAC Therapy? Almost all patients with plaque psoriasis are candidates. If you have mild, moderate or severe psoriasis, you should consider the XTRAC Therapy. On what body areas can the XTRAC Therapy be used? The XTRAC Therapy can be used on any plaque psoriasis regardless of location on the body. The XTRAC Therapy is excellent for hard to treat areas such as the scalp, knees or elbows. Is anesthesia required with the Therapy? No. The XTRAC treatment is pain free. Is the XTRAC Therapy safe to use on children? Yes. XTRAC treatments have been performed on children as young as just a few years old. How quickly will I see results? Most patients will begin to notice improvement in their psoriasis within 3 or 4 treatments. Significant improvement is often seen in 6 to 10 treatments, with clearance in 10 to 20 treatments. Individual results will vary. WHAT CONDITIONS DOES XTRAC TREAT? The XTRAC provides UVB phototherapy for the treatment of skin conditions including psoriasis, vitiligo, atopic dermatitis, and leukoderma. Are there side effects or risks associated with XTRAC? XTRAC has none of the drawbacks often associated with other psoriasis treatments such as premature aging of healthy skin, skin thinning, resistance to medication, or potential negative systemic side effects. Some patients, however, experience a reaction similar to sunburn or blistering at the site of the treated area and in some cases, an increase in pigmentation may occur. How long does a treatment take? Treatments are relatively quick. The exact time depends on how many psoriasis areas are being treated with the XTRAC. Typically, patients can be in and out of the treatment room in minutes. 21 Live Clear. Live Free LiveXtracClear.com 22

How long will psoriasis clearing last? Each patient is unique, but psoriasis sufferers who have experienced the XTRAC Therapy have found that relief can last for extended periods of time, typically 4 to 6 months longer than other psoriasis treatments. Is the XTRAC Therapy safer than other treatments? The XTRAC Therapy is extremely safe compared to other prescription treatments. The XTRAC Therapy does not expose your healthy skin to treatment. Also, there is no thinning of the skin as is common with topical medications. There is also none of the dangerous health risks such as cancer, tuberculosis, even death, as associated with biologics and systemics. Is there any pain associated with the XTRAC Therapy? No. Most patients feel no pain or discomfort during the XTRAC Therapy. Can I use other treatments along with the XTRAC Therapy, such as topicals or biologics? An XTRAC physician can define the best treatment protocol for you and whether the XTRAC Therapy should be used with other medications. How often is the XTRAC Therapy given? The XTRAC Therapy is performed two to three times per week in your physician s office. Your physician will discuss with you the best treatment program that fits your need.
