1 ONECLICKDIGITAL INSTRUCTIONS TO DOWNLOAD EBOOKS ON A TABLET OR MOBILE DEVICE SETTING UP: 1. From the James Kennedy Public Library website( ) click on the OneClick Digital web button at the top of the Home page OR click on the Digital Collection tab. Then click on the OneClickdigital button to take you to the OneClickdigital website. 2. Click on Create New Account. 3. Enter your library card number (found under the barcode on the back of the card) 1

2 4. Select your preferred format: ebook or Audio. Click the radio button for All if you want to be able to download both ebooks and audiobooks. Otherwise, click the radio button for the specific format you will use either ebooks or Audiobooks. 5. Select the eaudio preferences you have. The default is Use OneClickdigital Media Manager or Mobile App and I recommend you use that. Don t change the default if this doesn t apply to you. 6. Select the type of MP3 device you ll be using either an ipod/itunes (Apple) or another brand. Don t change the default if this doesn t apply to you. 7. Select your ebook preferences by telling the computer if your reader supports epub files. (Please note that Kindle users can only use Kindle files. Overdrive and most other users can use epub). 8. Enter all the personal information requested. You will be asked to create a user name (7 characters long, must include one number) and a password. This user name and password is what you will use from now on to log on to this website. 9. Click on Create an Account when done. 2

3 10. When the Download OneClick Digital Media Manager page comes up your account has been created. 11. At the pop-up message asking you to Run or Save the program select Run 12. The pop-up box for the Installshield Wizard will come up. Click Install. 13. It will take a few minutes for the Wizard to configure then follow the directions in the Wizard to download the program. A shortcut to your desktop will be downloaded. 14. Once installation is complete you will be prompted to log in for the first time using the log in and password you created earlier. This will open the media manger which allows you to manage the books you ve borrowed. 15. Click on Browse Website link located in the top, center of the screen to take you to the OneClickdigital website to search for books. 11. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the ebook section. 3

4 12. If you are going to download the ebooks to your computer then you will need to download Adobe Digital Editions to your computer. Click on the Adobe Digital Editions button to start the download. Follow all instructions as it completes the installation of the program. 13. If you are going to download ebooks to your mobile device (Smartphone, tablet, etc.) then go to the app store for your device, while on your device, and download the OneClickdigital ereader app. 14. Open the app once it is done installing. 15. If you have used Adobe Digital Editions before and have a user name/password then you will use that to sign in to the app. If you have never created a user name/password for Adobe Digital Editions then click on Create a Free Adobe ID and follow the instructions. CHECKING OUT EBOOKS USING THE MOBILE APP: 1. Open the OneClickdigital app on your mobile device. 2. Click on Get Books from the menu across the bottom 3. Select United States/Canada (you will only need to do this the first time you log on) 4. Log in with the user name/password you created for OneClickdigital/Adobe Digital Editions 5. You will be taken to your My Titles page which will show all books you currently have checked out. Otherwise, you ll get a message stating you have nothing checked out. 6. Click on the Search button to look for ebooks a. If you know the title of a book or the author name type that into the appropriate field. Use correct capitalization for best results! b. Hit the space bar after inputting a name/title and this will start the search and results will show up underneath the name/title you just input. c. Scroll through the results until you find a book you re interested in. d. Click on a title to get more information about the book e. If the blue button says Check Out then the book is available to check out. If the blue button says Place A Hold then the title is already checked out. f. Click on the Search button to return to the list of titles. 7. If you want to browse click on the Browse button to bring up a list of genres/categories. a. Click on the genre/category name to see what titles are in the collection b. Click on a title to get more information about the book c. If the blue button says Check Out then the book is available to check out. If the blue button says Place A Hold then the title is already checked out. d. Click on the Search button to return to the list of titles. 8. When you find the book you want to check out, click on the Check Out button. 9. You will be asked if you want to download the book now or later. Choose what you prefer but you cannot start reading the book until you download it. I suggest you select Download Now even if you don t want to start reading the book yet. 10. Once the download is complete you will be asked if you want to start reading the book now or later. a. Choose Read Now if you are ready to open the book and start reading. b. Choose Read Later if you still want to look for more books. 11. If you want to continue to look for more ebooks click on Search. 4

5 12. When you are done looking for books and want to view what you have downloaded, click on Library from the menu across the bottom. a. All downloaded books should show up here. b. Tap on the cover to open the book. 13. When you are reading a book, if you want to go back to the Library tap at the bottom of the page you are reading to bring up a menu. Click on Library. 14. From the Library, click on Now Reading from the menu across the bottom to open the book you are currently reading back to the last page you were on. You can check out 3 books at a time. Each book can be borrowed for 2 weeks at a time. RETURNING A BOOK EARLY 1. Open the OneClickdigital app and go to the Library page. 2. Make sure the view on the Library page is set to Title (it usually defaults to Recent). This is located in the red box across the bottom of the screen. 3. Click on the blue circle with white arrow next to the title you want to return. This will bring up the book s title page. 4. Click on Return Item in the second box. 5. When asked to confirm, click Return. The book will now disappear from the Library and return back into the collection. 5
