What will we give and to eat? This year's harvest wasn't very good, was it? If this keeps up, we are all going to starve. This is bad, isn't it? Oh well, there's nothing we can do about it. Unless, of course, we take the kids and leave them in the forest! We can't do that, can we? Maybe some nice family will take them in and feed them better than we can. (Children are eavesdropping at the door), is going to takes us to the forest and leave us there? (looks down) Hmm. I know. Let's grab some stale bread and as we go into the forest we can drop crumbs on the ground and then follow them to get back. (looks worriedly at ) Don't worry about a thing. I'll take care of you. Let's just go to sleep. (When and go to bed, goes into the kitchen to take some stale bread.) 1

I dropped breadcrumbs along the way so we can follow them to get back home! Uh oh! Breadcrumbs! I think we ate them. What? What are you talking about? We didn't know you were using them to show you the way back home! We just saw breadcrumbs and we ate them! We're so sorry!!! The sun is already setting, so we have to go to bed. We will all help you get home tomorrow. So cheer up! It will be okay! Thank you! We are going home too. We will come back tomorrow morning, okay? You should find somewhere safe to sleep.
