1 FEBRUARY 13, 2014 Scrip is Great for the Break We only have a few days before the February break to purchase Scrip. Any special orders placed this week will be in after the break. We do have plenty of in stock items to get you through. Get your Arco gas cards at the Scrip table. We have one $250 card if a road trip is in your plans, or $50 and $100 cards. Need groceries? Sprouts, Lundardi's, Safeway, Whole Foods, Target, Lucky and Walmart are available. Are movies in your plans for next week? We have Cinemark individual tickets ($9.50) and $25 cards. If you plan on taking the kids out for a treat come by and pick up a card or two. We have Subway, Chipotle, Cold Stone, Jamba Juice, Buffalo Wild Wings, Starbuck's, and more. If you have birthday parties to go to we have: itunes, Gap/Old Navy, Claire s, Barnes and Noble and more. Get your gift shopping done at school. SJUSD Enrollment Center (located at Allen at Steinbeck Campus) is now open for the convenience of our families. Go to the cafeteria and find your last name on a Bobcat paw print or star. All PTA members will have their names up on the wall. Our school year is half over but we still have half a year to go. So if you have not joined the PTA yet, it s not too late! Remember, your membership helps to fund all the wonderful PTA sponsored programs at Reed! 2 Book Fair Fiesta News Our Book Fair Fiesta was a huge success this year! Without the help of our Reed Families, we would not have pulled it off. We would like to thank Michelle O hara for helping us set up the book fair. Michelle Dailey and Caroline Youkhanna Ice Cream Social Thank You Helpers! What an amazing turnout we had for last Tuesday s Ice Cream Social! With over 400 bowls passed out, (that s over 800 scoops!) we were pleased to see many smiling faces. We wanted to thank our volunteers for assisting our customers with their dessert and at the yummy toppings table. Thank you to Ms. Cooper, Ms. Reyes, Ms. Lam, Ms. Jamieson, Erin Toombs, Matt Purkeypile, Chelsea Souza, Blanca-Lilia Steger, Reed Alumni Gianna Bozzo, and our amazing PTA for making this fun night possible! Jen Leighton Walk a Thon Our second annual Walk a Thon is quickly approaching. We are looking for sponsors again this year. If you or someone you know has a small business that would want to sponsor our Walk a Thon please let us know! walkathon@reedpta.com Musical Maniacs! Reed PTA s after-school chorus, the Musical Maniacs, is open for registration to committed 2nd through 5th graders! Participants must be able to attend rehearsals after school every Monday from March 3rd through May 19th, from 3:10 4:30pm, and be able to focus on a task for an extended period, take direction, and work cooperatively with other students as part of a team. Participants will practice improving their vocal technique and learn a choreographed song which they will perform at International Day. See the attached flyer and registration form for details! You can turn in your registration and payment to the office. Deadline is Friday, February 28th or until 50 students have registered, whichever is first. The PTA needs a Mom or Dad who can help with the tether balls (putting up in the morning/taking down after school) and blowing up the classroom balls for our kids.
