1 SS. Mary and John s Catholic Primary School This prayer book is intended to be shared by you and your child. The prayers are ideally to be learned by heart. Some of the prayers are prayed daily and some are used more frequently at certain mes of the year. The children are encouraged to learn and pray these prayers when at home. We especially support and join with the children in saying prayers at the start and end of each day. Jesus said: Where two or three are gathered together in my name there I am in the midst of them. A Prayer Book for Parents and Children to share at home PRAYER OF DEDICATION Lord Jesus I give you my hands to do your work. I give you my feet to go your way. I give you my eyes to see as you do. I give you my tongue to speak your words. I give you my mind that you may think in me. I give you my spirit that you may pray in me. Above all I give you my heart that you may love in me, Your Father and all mankind. I give you my whole self that you may grow in me, So that it is you, Lord Jesus, Who live and work and pray in me.

2 THE SIGN OF THE CROSS In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. THE OUR FATHER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Bego en Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. 5 ACT OF FAITH O my God, I believe in you and in all that your Holy Church teaches because you have said it and your word is true. You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. You are my Lord and my God. Lord, I believe, increase my faith. ACT OF CHARITY O my God, I love you with all my heart, With all my soul, and with all my strength. Lord increase our love. Help us to love one another. MEMORARE ACT OF HOPE O my God, I put my hope in you because I am sure of your promises. Deliver us Lord, from every evil and grant us peace in our day, As we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Saviour Jesus Christ. ACT OF SORROW O my God, because you are so good I am very sorry that I have sinned against you and by the help of your grace I will not sin again. Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that it is a thing unheard of, that anyone ever had recourse to your protec on, implored your help, or sought your intercession, and was le forsaken. Filled therefore with confidence in your goodness I fly to you, O Mother, virgin of virgins. To you I come, before you I stand, a sorrowful sinner. Despise not my poor words, O Mother of the Word of God, but graciously hear and grant my prayer. 6 PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love, Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in forgiving that we are forgiven and it is in dying that we are FOR THE DEAD ETERNAL REST Eternal rest, grant to them, O Lord And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Walk With Me (A Diocesan Prayer) Lord God, our light and our salva on, We praise you for your gi s of life and faith. We thank you for the desire that you have planted in our hearts, our yearning to see your face. Help us to meet you in prayer, to walk in your ways, and to speak to others of our joy and consola on in your presence. Give us faithfulness in this present life so that we may come to know and praise your beauty, with all our brothers and sisters, in the life to come. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord..
