Both the online and on-campus courses require online access. The oncampus courses are taught in a hybrid fashion and require selected online participation after the first week of on-campus class meetings. Course Outcomes: Demonstrate an ability to apply theories of contingent leadership in various organizational environments. Illustrate how the functions of management are implemented and explain why they are important. Demonstrate competency to work, lead and learn in a team environment. Identify and explain the impact and relevance of government regulation and social responsibility to management decision making in a global business environment. Create an individual Skill-Based Career Portfolio

Test questions may consist of multiple choice, matching, short answer or essay. Tests contain content from: textbook reading assignments, lecture topics, Courageous Conversations, and Speaker presentations. One exam may be taken outside the scheduled time frame. A second make-up exam may be taken with a 20% penalty. Speakers & Courageous Conversation Exercises Self-evaluation exercises, and professional consultants speaking on soft skills development - are scheduled to bridge the academic realm of theory and research - to effective personal practice. These self-assessments require honesty and should be completed online for both online and on-campus class formats. Your results are anonymous and are used to create class averages. Speakers and Courageous Conversation sessions are scheduled during classroom sessions, and require attendance. No make-up speaker or exercise opportunities are provided. Courageous Conversations class discussions will be facilitated on topics such as: Micro Aggressions, White Privilege, Gender Biases, & Semantics (Framing Language). These conversations require honesty and respect in acknowledging that one person s path and view of the world may not be experienced by someone else. Respecting/valuing the life experiences of those we manage, are critical soft skill adaptations required for effective management in today s organizational environments.

3 Courageous Conversations are facilitated using proven principles of effective teaching and active learning (Bonwell & Elson 1991), which recognize that: Learning is not a spectator sport. Students benefit more if they talk about what they are learning and apply it to their everyday lives, rather than listening to pre-packaged lectures and assignments or memorizing and spilling out answers. Students must have an open mind and be actively engaged, which requires letting go of pre-conceived notions and the limited understanding that their world view may not have been shaped by the same forces that shape the world of others. Greater emphasis is placed on the exploration of attitudes and values in the real world. Students receive immediate feedback from instructors and peers. Studens are expected to participate in open class discussions. Be respectful, share the air space. Students are involved in higher order thinking (analysis, synthesis, evaluation). Requirements for BMGMT Leadership courses taught completely online may vary. Personal Skill-Based Career Portfolio. Each student will be required to turn in an individual Skill-Based Career Portfolio. A separate handout is attached. Late Portfolios will lose 10 points per calander day. Please see your syllabus for the portfolio due date. Think Leadership and be prepared for Individual Accountability! Participation & Student Conduct: Your quality contributions to course discussions will be noted. Accept responsibility for your own performance. Avoid plagiarism - passing someone else s works or ideas off as your own. Examples of palgiarism will be provided upon request. Academic Dishonesty also includes a failure on your part to keep your current and past assignments out of the hands of other students who may misrepresent their origins. No form of Academic Dishonesty or Plagiarism will be tolerated. It is action to fail the student(s) from this course. Keep rough drafts of written or project work until you ve received your final grade. Where applicable all turned in work should be typed--no spelling errors.
