3 1. INTRODUCTION You have decided to take your business online and have decided to go with Domain Hosting (excellent decision!). Follow the easy steps below to get your website online in a very short time. This HOW TO document will take you through the several steps required to getting started, from registering a domain name, purchasing a Hosting plan to getting a website built and online. The following procedures are covered: a) Registering a Doman Name and selecting a Hosting plan First, you need to register a domain name for your business or personal website. An example is You must then select a Hosting plan for your domain name. A Hosting plan is essentially a service that stores your website files on a server and serves it up to whoever visits your website Once you have registered a domain name, selected a Hosting plan and, of course, paid for it then an account will be created for you b) Logging into your Client Area Next you will be shown where to and how to login to your own magic place, your Client Area Your Client Area is the place where you can: i. Change your details ii. Change your password iii. List your Products/Services iv. Order new Products/Services v. Renew your domain name/s vi. Register another domain name vii. 5 2. REGISTRATION, HOSTING PLAN AND PAYMENT Let us start with (i) registering a Domain Name, (ii) selecting a Hosting plan for your domain name and (iii) completing the checkout process. STEP 1: 1. On the Home page of Domain Hosting type in your preferred domain name you would like for your website in the box circled in red below: 2. Next select the TLD you would like to have at the end of your domain name by selecting the dropdown box circled in red below: There are several custom TLDs that are specific to types of business, e.g. dentist, lawyer, accountant TIP:.com and.co.nz are cheaper than.kiwi,.nz or.kiwi.nz 3. 6 STEP 2: 4. If your domain name is available, then you will see the following circled in red below: 5. If your domain name is not available, then go back to the Home page and change the TLD or domain name and SEARCH again until you find one that is available. 7 6. Next, if you want to register your domain name for more than 1 year you must click on the dropdown box next to Add to Cart circled in red below and select the number of years required: 7. If you only want to register the domain name for 1 year, then click on Add to Cart TIP: Remember that you will only be required to renew your domain after however many years you select. 8 8. Next click the Go to Checkout button circled in red below. This button only appears once you have clicked the Add to Cart in step (7) above: Copyright Domainhosting.co.nz - All Rights Reserved. Page 7

9 STEP 3: 9. Next you will need to select a Hosting plan for this domain name. Click on the RED text circled in red below to be redirected to the Hosting plans page: 10. If you do not require a Hosting plan (you already have hosting with another hosting company) then click on Continue circled below: 11. You will be redirected to the Hosting plans page. Scroll down and select the Hosting plan you would like by clicking on the Order Now button. For a small business we recommend the STARTER plan while for personal websites we recommend the FREEBIE plan. Larger businesses and e-commerce websites should select the BUSINESS or BUSINESS PRO plans. TIP: Remember you can upgrade/downgrade your Hosting plan anytime. 10 STEP 4: 12. You will then be redirected back to Step 1. Since you already have a domain name in your shopping cart ensure that the first option Use a domain already in my shopping cart is selected. You will notice your domain name is shown in a dropdown box highlighted in yellow below: 13. Next click the Use button circled in red below: Copyright Domainhosting.co.nz - All Rights Reserved. 11 14. Next select your desired billing cycle, circled in red below. 15. Also select further ADDONS that you require (Website Builder is FREE). 16. Next click Continue TIP: The Hosting plans are cheaper per month from the 24month billing cycle onwards. TIP: You will be able to select AVAILABLE ADDONS at a later stage by logging into your Client Area and selecting < Services > < View Available Addons > Copyright Domainhosting.co.nz - All Rights Reserved. 13 STEP 5: 19. You will then be taken to the Checkout page. There are 3 things that need to be done here in order to complete the checkout process: a. Personal Information, Billing Address and Account Security circled in red below MUST be completed as this information is required to register your domain name and to create your account on the Domain Hosting servers b. Payment Details must be selected. We prefer Bank Transfer, however your account will only be created once we can confirm payment into our bank account. So if you would like to get started immediately then you must select one of the Paypal payment methods as this will ensure that your domain name is registered and an account is created immediately after a successful payment. When completing a Bank Transfer you must include the invoice number as the reference (invoice will be ed to you after the checkout process is complete) c. If you want to pay using your credit or debit card, then you must select the 'PayPal' option on the checkout page under 'Payment Details'. After agreeing to the Terms of Service and clicking on 'Complete Order' you will be redirected to your invoice. d. Next select 'Checkout' on the top right of your invoice and you will be redirected to a PayPal page. Select the 'Pay with my credit or debit card' option at the bottom of the page. 15 3. LOGIN TO CLIENT AREA AND CPANEL Once you have registered a domain name and purchased a Hosting plan with Domain Hosting we will create an account for you. This account can be accessed through Your login details are the ones you used when you registered in #17 above. If you have forgotten your password, simply click on Request a Password Reset or refer to your Welcome from Domain Hosting which contains your login details. Once you have navigated your way around your Client Area it is time for you to login to your cpanel account. Your cpanel account will only be created as soon as payment has been confirmed/made, either via Bank Transfer or Paypal. Follow the steps below to access your cpanel account via your Client Area: Login to Client area by clicking on Use the and password details you used when registering an account with Domain Hosting on checkout (done in #19 above) or refer to your Welcome from us If you have forgotten your password and lost your welcome , then click Request a Password Reset Once logged in click on the drop down box on Services in the menu bar Select My Services Click on xxx Hosting Plan (not on your domain name url below the hosting plan) In the left-hand column under Actions click on Login to cpanel Follow the steps below to access cpanel directly through an internet browser: Add /cpanel to the end of your domain name (i.e. Use the login credentials in the New Account Information that was ed to you (note that this will only have been sent if payment was made through PayPal or we have confirmed the Bank Transfer was successful, since this is sent out once your cpanel account has been created) Copyright Domainhosting.co.nz - All Rights Reserved. 16 You will know you are in cpanel when you see the following: 4. BUILD AND PUBLISH YOUR WEBSITE a) WebBuilderPro Now that you have successfully logged into cpanel it is time to build your website. 17 Next click on your domain name. WebBuilderPro will open and the following screen will show. Next select a template from the list in the column on the left circled in red below. Once you have found a template you like then click on Select when you hover over the template. 18 b) WordPress If you would like to build your website using a Content Management System (CMS) then you will be required to install either WordPress, Joomla or any of the other available CMS. In order to install a CMS you must following these steps: 1. Login to cpanel, click here for instructions on how to login to cpanel 2. Scroll down to SOFTWARE and click on Softaculous Apps Installer circled in red below: 3. In the Search box type in Wordpress and the WordPress program will be displayed under the Search box, see circled in red below: 4. 19 5. Next click on Install and complete the required sections. 5. SETUP BUSINESS Now that you have successfully built your website you now need to setup your FREE Business account/s. Follow the steps below to successfully set up your Business /s: Login to cpanel (Refer to Section 3 above) Scroll down to and select Accounts Copyright Domainhosting.co.nz - All Rights Reserved. 20 Under Add Account, fill in the details highlighted in yellow below (i.e. sales or info under ). Make sure you select a strong password. Next click Create Account and wait for account to be successfully created Next scroll down and click Configure Mail Client next to the account you created. 21 Scroll down to Manual Settings to find the Client settings. Use these settings in your Client. You may also refer to our Knowledgebase articles on setting up accounts To access your Webmail simply enter into a web browser (Hint: Replace yourdomainname with your real registered domain name) Enter your address and password you selected in the steps above.
