It also includes registration and participation in the CIS Institute at the AASSA conference which brings together school counselors from throughout South America. With the improving security situation in Colombia and the growth of living standards following the improved political climate, this is a market gem that is ready to shine. Tour events only include invited students from high quality CIS Member schools, private international schools, and outstanding national schools with student populations preparing to study abroad. CIS tours are truly educational. During the tour, participants conduct in-depth workshops to help students, parents, counselors, and teachers learn more about various admission related topics. Daily interactions with admissions professionals from other CIS member institutions allow you to learn from the experiences of others, share ideas, and build your network. CIS tours have stood the test of time. CIS is a non-profit that has been sponsoring recruitment tours for nearly 40 years. Our tour leaders are all experienced admissions counselors working at CIS member institutions. They understand your needs and goals. The CIS Latin America Committee a group of experienced admission professionals who volunteer their time to plan and direct recruitment tours in Central and South America. CIS tours offer inclusive pricing which covers all logistics and events. There are no surprise bills at the end of the tour. 2 Terms & Conditions Costs: CIS Southern Cone Tour - Starting in Cali, Colombia and ending in Lima, Peru: $ 5,950 Tour applications due 09 January Deposit due to CIS 09 January $1, Tour Balance due to CIS 30 January $4,950 (Late Fee: 5%) Tour price is subject to change due to: revaluation of the U.S. dollar, fuel surcharges, government taxes, airport departure taxes, reciprocity taxes, entry visa fees, itinerary changes (before and during the tour) and all other items not in the control of the Council of International Schools. Registration/Payment: Your deposit of $1,000 to CIS must accompany the application form. Participants must meet the conditions for participation and application deadlines in order to be considered. Payment for the balance of the tour costs will be due to CIS later than January 30,. Institutions will receive an invoice for tour costs and instructions for payment from CIS. General Conditions for Participation: The CIS Colombia tour is available only to CIS Higher Education member institutions. Participants must adhere to the Council of International Schools Code of Ethics for higher education members. This CIS tour is a rigorous recruitment trip designed for full-time, campus-based international admission officers. Applicants must have at least two years of full-time professional admissions experience and preference is given to applicants with at least three years of professional admissions or related experience. Participants must take part in the entire tour due to group travel arrangements and advance publicity. Deviations from the tour itinerary are not permitted. Any substitution in traveler, after formal tour acceptance, must meet all criteria for participation. Any substitutions must be approved by CIS. No substitutions are allowed within 45 days of departure. Approved substitute travelers will pay a US $1000 change fee plus any additional tour expenses. No institution may send more than one representative, nor may any additional travelers accompany the tour participant. The tour will be limited to 20 participants plus the CIS tour director and assistant tour director. Participants must be prepared to make general presentations on the university admissions process. They must also be familiar with the specific admission and financial aid policies of their own institutions, and be familiar with the concerns of international students. Due to space restrictions, we will be unable to permit any institutional floor displays at the college fairs. 4 Included Features CIS Southern Cone Tour (Subject to change) Destinations: Cali, Bogota, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Medellin, COLOMBIA; Lima, PERU Transportation: All flights will be coach/economy class. Flights begin in Cali and end in Lima. International flights to Cali, Colombia and from Lima, Peru are not included. Accommodations: Ten (10) nights at first class hotels, single rooms, taxes, breakfast and internet included. Transfers: Included from airport to the hotel and vice versa, by private motor coach. All group transfers for school visits and college fairs are included. Orientation & Debriefing: Orientation meeting in Cali and debriefing in Lima Meals: Daily Breakfast. Opening dinner in Cali and closing dinner in Lima. Gratuities & Taxes: All gratuities and taxes in connection with the Included Features are included. Airport and hotel porters, drivers and guides gratuities are all included. Airport departure taxes are also included. Passports & Visas: There is no visa required for U.S. and many other nationalities for Colombia and Peru, however travelers are strongly encouraged to consult with their travel provider or their State Department/Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the most up to date information. Counselor Programs: The tour will be participating in the institute in Lima. Tour guidance & management: The tour director and assistant tour director are experienced admissions professionals who will manage leading this tour. Our Tour Manager, Maria Clara Gutierez has been coordinating all aspects of the tour since its inception and will be traveling with us throughout the tour. Pre-Trip Materials: Appropriate tour information and pre-trip literature will be provided to all tour participants. Tour Materials: Luggage identifiers and a tour booklet will be provided for all participants. Travel Insurance: A group coverage policy is included for all participants. Miscellaneous: Information on schools to be visited on the tour and cultural background information on the countries to be visited will be provided in advance. A CIS brochure with information about each participating institution will be provided to each school to share with prospective students and school counselors. 5 Excluded Features The following services/items are NOT included in the price of the tour: Passport; passport photos; rush visa fees; Visas not mentioned in Visa section; 2nd passports; rush visas; additional passport pages; excess or overweight luggage; meals not specified in the itinerary; telephone calls, laundry, valet service, room service, or any other items of a personal nature; and other service/items not specifically mentioned in the itinerary or under included features above. Cancellations/Penalties: CIS will only accept written cancellations. Fees will be assessed for cancellations in the following manner: CIS Colombia Tour Date of Cancellation 9 January December On or before 9 January After 9 January through 30 January After 30 January Application deadline Refund Policy Full refund of the total tour fee, including $1,000 tour deposit. 50% of the total tour fee is refundable, less the tour deposit of $1,000 and any unrecoverable tour expenses.
