2 PRIVATE MUSIC INSTRUCTION Private music instruction is available for beginner to advanced level students, ages preschool through adult. Our music program provides private instruction sessions in: Piano Voice Flute Harp Drums Clarinet Saxophone Guitar (classical, acoustic, electric) Bass Guitar Violin, Viola, Cello, String Bass Suzuki Instruction* Available For: Guitar (classical, acoustic, electric) Violin, Viola, Cello, String Bass (additional charge may apply for Suzuki lessons) Music enrollment includes evaluations, participation in group performances, and community service opportunities through performing music. Standard private lesson tuition is $28 for each 30-minute session, $42 for each 45- minute session, and $56 for each 60 -minute session. Suzuki lessons include an additional $100/quarter to cover participation in group instruction. Lessons are billed/pro-rated according to quarterly structure. A tuition discount is available for members of the Oswego Family YMCA, and for FRA families enrolled in four or more music lessons. A military discount is also available. Please contact our main office for more information. MUSIC THEORY CLASS This teacher-guided program meets each week. Students work through ear training exercises and theory curriculum from the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program. MONDAYS 4:15-5 on 5-5:45 (current student: $60 / non-current $80) GUITAR ENSEMBLE (youth or adult) Students learn classical guitar group repertoire together. YOUTH TUESDAYS 6:30-7:30pm; ADULT FRIDAYS 11:00am-12:00pm. $80 per quarter FOX RIVER ACADEMY ROCK ENSEMBLE Students have a chance to practice together music by various artists and perform in various community venues. $80 per quarter ART CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS FALL WATERCOLOR & PASTEL EXPLORATION Workshop 1- Saturday, September 19 th 1:00-3:00pm $30 Workshop 2- Saturday, October 10 th 1:00-3:00pm $30

3 Students explore the combined mediums of pastels and watercolors in this workshop. Artists learn how to blend, layer, and shade with pastels, as well as discover watercolor techniques including wet to dry and wet to wet painting and brush applications. DRAWING WHAT YOU SEE: DRAWING AND SHADING WORKSHOP COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS The Oswego Family YMCA and Fox River Academy have been community partners since Oswego YMCA members receive a discount on music lessons and art classes. Some classes are taught on campus at the YMCA. The Fox River Academy is a Preferred Partner of the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois. Troops/ Girl Scouts may earn badges through special workshops and classes taught by our art faculty. Each student will complete several observational drawing exercises including contour line drawing, gesture line drawing, sketching, shading, and crosshatching. 4 CARTOON ANIMAL SUPERHEROES Instructor: Zack Hampton Workshops (choose one): Sat., Oct. 3 rd, 10:30-12:30pm $30 Sat., Nov. 7 th, 10:30-12:30pm $30 Sat., Dec. 5 th, 10:30-12:30pm $30 Sat., Jan. 23 rd, 10:30-12:30pm $30 Students in this two hour class will learn how to draw Cartoon Animal Superheroes! They will learn the fundamentals of drawing the basic superhero anatomy in a simple way and combining it with that of an animal in nature. The focus will be on three different body types: small, medium, and large, emphasizing the basic outlines of each type of figure. At the end of the session, students will have created their own unique animal superhero that they can take home with them! (Description:) Learn the fundamentals of drawing the basic superhero anatomy and combining it with that of an animal of the natural world. Students in this two hour class will learn how to draw the anatomy of a heroic character and combine that specific anatomy with the features of a creature of the animal kingdom. At the end of this session students will have created two or more unique, animalistic-superhero characters that show the dynamics of their creativity! Basic jewelry making techniques will be demonstrated, including sculpting pendants and beads using polymer clay, wire wrapping, beading, and embossing sheet metal. Students will create a unique piece of jewelry using the material and techniques of their choice.

5 JEWELRY MAKING FOR KIDS (Description:) Brand new painting class that mixes the fun of Pop Art while learning abstract painting techniques! Students will bring in a fun photo of themselves that will be photocopied and altered with drawing materials. Layers of acrylic painting techniques will be explored on the canvas, as well as, collage materials to add extra unique details to make each creation unique and symbolic to the artist. This new workshop will let students try their style sense with creating their own jewelry. Students will design and create a mini jewelry line using polymer clay, glass and plastic beads, wire and jewelry clasps. ABSTRACT POP ART PORTRAIT PAINTING Instructor: Chrissy Schoeberlein & Junior High Saturday, Nov. 14 th, 10:30-12:30pm $33 Saturday, Jan. 30 th, 10:30-12:30pm $33 ACRYLIC ANIMALS ON CANVAS Instructor: Chrissy Schoeberlein & Junior High Workshops (choose one): Saturday, Sept. 29 th, 10:30-12:30pm $30 Saturday, November 21 st, 1-3pm $30 Saturday, Feb. 20 th, 10:30-12:30pm $30 Students learn about different techniques to create an acrylic painting of an animal on 8x10 canvas. Artists explore sculpture using additive and subtractive techniques, pinch, coils, and texture. Fox River Academy hosts many FREE Community Art Projects throughout the year, open to all ages. 7 ORNAMENT MAKING WORKSHOP Saturday, Dec. 19 th, 10:30-12:30pm $25 All Ages WINTER WATERCOLOR & PASTEL EXPLORATION Saturday, Feb. 6 th, 10:30-12:30pm $30 Students explore the combined mediums of pastels and watercolors in this workshop. Artists will learn how to blend, layer, and shade with pastels, as well as discover watercolor techniques including wet to dry and wet to wet painting and brush applications. Handmade ornaments make great presents for loved ones and family members that can be displayed with pride on the Christmas tree for many years to come. Students will be painting on glass ornaments and create a festive snow globe! HOLIDAY CARD PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP Saturday, Dec. 19 th, 1-3pm $25 All Ages PASTEL WORKSHOP-PET PORTRAITS & Jr. High Saturday, February 6 th, 1-3pm $30 In our various Pastel Workshops, artists learn how to blend, layer, and add shading and tone with using chalk and oil pastels. In this workshop, students will create a keepsake portrait of their pet using the pastel medium. Bring in a photo of your beloved pet to use as your model. Students create a variety of holiday cards using: collage, paper, paint, and other mixed media techniques. Each unique and festive card includes an envelope fit for mailing.

8 Encouraging Appreciation of the Arts through Education Since 2003 The Fox River Academy of Music and Art is located in Oswego, Illinois (near Yorkville, Montgomery, Plainfield, Aurora, and Naperville). Since 2003, we have encouraged arts appreciation through experience in private and group study, performance participation in community events, art exhibits and workshops, and free local concert attendance. Students from preschool through seniors are welcome; programs are available for beginners to advanced levels of study.
