2 Introduction Teaching staff sometimes wish to edit and upload movie recordings other than those recorded using the MyMedia Capture Application tool in the Common Teaching Areas (CTAs). These might be recordings of field trips or laboratory experiments. In these cases, it might be useful to add captions to highlight details of the trip or experiment. Sometimes, it might be appropriate to download a MyMedia recording and edit it, before uploading it back to MyMedia. This might involve breaking it into shorter segments, and adding titles and captions. If you wish to edit your MyMedia Recording you will need to use a video editing program. There are many video editing programs that can be used to edit video. Windows Movie Maker is free and simple to use and can be downloaded from the web. Please contact the Service Desk ( or service.desk@adelaide.edu.au) should you have problems installing Movie Maker on your University computer. In this guide, we will show you how to do use MyMedia Web Application, Windows Movie Maker and MyUni to deploy your new video for students to view. MyMedia MyMedia Capture Application is used to capture recorded lecture content in Common Teaching Areas (Lecture Theatres and Tutorial Rooms) using audio visual equipment. MyMedia Web Application is used to manage the recorded content. 2 5 February 2014 The University of Adelaide

A black line will be displayed at that point. 2. Select the Edit tab, under Video Tools. 8 5 February 2014 The University of Adelaide

The University of Adelaide 5 February
12 1. Select the desired section from the timeline. Once selected, the section will have a blue selection border. 2. Select the Video Tools > Edit tab. 3. Click the Video volume button. 4. Using the slider, increase, decrease or mute the sound. Add music 5. Select the Home tab. 6. Select the Add music button. 7. Under Add music from PC, select Add music. 8. Select the Music Tools > Options tab to adjust the music start and end time and the music volume. Drag the black line to where you want music to start or end and select the appropriate buttons. Save the movie 1. Select the Home tab. 2. Select the Save movie button. If you select the arrow at the bottom of this button you will be presented with various save options: 12 5 February 2014 The University of Adelaide
13 Usually you simply want to select the Recommended for this project option. This option will produce an.mp4 file. 3. Save the file to a desired location on your computer. Saving a movie file can take several minutes. 4. When your movie has finished saving you will see the following box: Note: If the recording was originally made in MyMedia, it will be a relatively low resolution file, do not be tempted to select a high definition format from the choices. This will result in poor image quality. If it is a high-definition recording from a personal video camera, saving as a high-definition file will still result in MyMedia applying a compression to reduce the file size. The University of Adelaide 5 February
