The chart serves two differet purposes. To read the flow, use the right side of the chart. To read the relief characteristics use the left side of the chart. he readig the flow chart, first determie the secodary pressure that will be used. Fid the appropriate pressure curve o the graph. Give a acceptable pressure drop for a applicatio, follow the flow curve util it itersects the pressure drop poit. This will give the flow at that particular pressure drop. Turig the adjustig kob clockwise applies a load to cotrol sprig (). This load causes the pisto /diaphragm () ad the valve poppet assembly () to move dowward allowig flow across the seat area () created betwee the poppet assembly ad the seat. The dowstream pressure sigal, which regulates the amout of opeig, requires a adjustmet over this rage, i order to attempt a costat output. This adjustmet is the orifice (G), which is sized ad located i such a maer as to provide a compesatio to the dowstream pressure sigal trasmitted to the pisto. This effect is called aspiratio ad its effect is to maitai dowstream pressure early costat over a wide rage of flow demads. Should dowstream pressure exceed the desired regulated pressure, the excess pressure will cause the pisto / diaphragm () to move upward agaist cotrol sprig (), ope vet hole (F), ad vet the excess pressure to atmosphere through the hole i the boet (H).
