1 Brixham Church of England Primary School Before and After School Club Policy 2015 The Clubs are run by Brixham Church of England Primary School staff and exist to provide high quality out-of-school hours childcare for our parents. It provides a range of stimulating and creative activities in a safe environment. The Breakfast club operates from 8.00am 9.00am and Afterschool club (session 1, 3:20pm to 4:30pm and session 2, 4:30pm to 5:30pm) from 3.20pm pm (term time) and current costs for each session or part thereof are 3.00 per session. They will be a charge of 5.00 for late collection. Copies of the Club policy are available to all parents of children attending Club and are also available upon request and on the school website. All parents must sign a copy of this policy. AD M I S SIONS Parents are made aware of how to access policies and procedures. Irregular users are welcomed provided there are spaces (30). All staff are made aware of the details of a new child. Children s attendance is recorded in a register. AR R I V AL AN D D EP AR T U R E B E F O R E SCHOOL CLUB Parents/Carers must bring their child directly to Breakfast club. Key Stage 1 children will be escorted to their respective classes at 8.55am by club staff. Key Stage 2 children will be escorted onto the playground at 8.50am by the club staff where they will be supervised by another member of school staff.
2 A F T E R SCHOOL CL U B Parent must advise school by lunchtime if a child is not going to be attending the booked session. Collection of Children: All Afterschool club children will be collected from their classes by club staff. Afterschool club children will be escorted to school events such as: Discos, Fairs etc, by club staff. Parents will need to advise school if they do not want their child/ren to attend these extra curricular activities. On arrival all children are marked on the register. Departure The parent/carer or named collector must inform a member of staff that they are collecting their child. Parents/carers must ensure that school is made aware of any person who may be authorised to collect their child. D AI L Y RO UT I NE MO R NI NG SESSION 8.00am 9.00am Parents bring their children to Before school Club situated in the Escape Room and Lodge where children will be able to enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast and a range of activities. Children are encouraged to take responsibility for the environment and expected to help tidy up before being escorted to the playground/ class. A F T E R NOON SESSION Monday s club, session 1 will be in the school Nursery and session 2 in the Escape. All other days of the week both sessions of the club will be based in the Escape. Children will also have supervised access to the school hall and playground to enrich their experience (weather depending). A snack and drink will be provided at the start of each session.
3 B E H AV I O U R Whilst attending Club children are expected to: Use socially acceptable behaviour. Comply with the School rules and our Christian values. Respect one another, accepting differences of race, gender, ability, age and religion. Choose and participate in a variety of activities. Ask for help if needed. Enjoy their time at the Club. Positive behaviour is encouraged by: Staff acting as positive role models. Praising appropriate behaviour. Informing parents about individual achievements. Dealing with inappropriate behaviour: Challenging behaviour will be addressed in a calm, firm and positive manner following school policy. In the first instance, if necessary, the child will be temporarily removed from the activity. Staff will explain why the behaviour displayed is deemed inappropriate. Staff will encourage and facilitate mediation between children to try to resolve conflicts through discussion and negotiation. Staff will consult with parents to formulate clear strategies for dealing with persistent inappropriate behaviour. If after consultation with parents and the implementation of behaviour management strategies, a child continues to display inappropriate behaviour, the Club may decide to exclude the child. The reasons and processes involved will be clearly explained to the child and their parent/carer.
4 F I R ST AI D All accidents will be recorded in the accident book, accurately reported to the parents/carer upon collection and signed by a member of staff and parent/carer. Accident records must give details of; Time, date and nature of the accident. Details of the child involved. Type and location of the injury. Action taken, and by whom. All incidents are dealt with by a qualified first aider. Parents of any child who become unwell during Club will be contacted immediately. If a child is sent home during school hours, Club will be informed of their absence. MI S SI NG OR UNCOLLECT E D CHI L DREN MI S SI NG CHILDREN In the event that a child goes missing, the following procedure will be undertaken: Appropriate school staff will be informed of the missing child. Club supervisor will search the inside of the building and delegate an outside search of the building to another member of staff. If the child remains missing, the appropriate measures will be taken. U N COLLECT E D CHILDREN Parents will be contacted in the first instance by telephone. Emergency contacts will be contacted in the second instance. If these contacts are unavailable after approximately one hour, the police and Social Services will be informed. P A Y ME NT O F F E ES It is possible to pay fees via cash or cheque. Please pay direct to Club staff or the school office when booking sessions. If a parent is experiencing difficulty with payment of their fees, they should contact the school office staff as soon as possible.
