12 ~ About Us ~ What Makes Cloisonné Ornaments So Special? Each cloisonné ornament is a handcrafted work of art - no two ornaments are exactly alike. Cloisonné is an ancient, time consuming art, and to begin the process, artisans bend wire strips by hand to create the patterns within the design, which are then soldered onto a copper form which has been carefully molded to create the desired shape of the ornament. Each cell is inlaid with enamels (different colors according to the design), then fired at very high temperatures repeatedly, eventually cooled, polished and 24k gold plated to create a unique and durable work of art to cherish for a lifetime. Cloisonné process information and handling instructions will be included with each ornament in the keepsake box in which it comes (ornament gift box included in the price). More cloisonné process information can be found at. About the Artist Kitty has been in business for almost thirty years. She studied fine art at UT Austin in the 1970 s and began her business in 1985, originally hand painting t-shirts using her signature bluebonnet, wildflower and splatter painting techniques. Her business evolved from hand painting to silk-screening t-shirts for many large customers throughout the country, which led to her branching out into new products such as sterling silver charms, cloisonné ornaments and other fine gifts including pottery. What makes our ornaments and other products so special is Kitty s distinctive signature style and her ability to envision and create unique and beautiful designs. Also Specializing In. Important Cloisonné Ornament Ordering Information Designs from our line collegiate, Kitty Keller collection, etc. - also need to be ordered 2-3 months in advance, as all ornaments are handcrafted to order (we do not stock designs from our line will not be available for immediate shipment in most cases). Please consider the 2-3 month production time frame (depending on the time of year) when placing your order. We encourage all wholesale customers to place their orders as early as possible in the year (even if for a later ship date) to ensure that we can meet your ship date.
