1 Great Doxology Priest: Glory to you who have shown us the light! People Respond: Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you;* and we give thanks to you for your great glory. O Lord, king of heaven, God the Father almighty;* O only-begotten Son, Lord Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit. O lord and God, lamb of God, the Father s Son,* you take away the sin of the world. O you who take away the sins of the world,* have mercy on us. O you who take away the sins of the world,* accept our prayer. O you who sit at the right hand of the Father,* have mercy on us. For only you are holy, only you are Lord,* O Jesus Christ, to the glory of God, the Father, Amen. Each and every day I will bless you,* and I will praise your name for ever,* yes for ever and ever. Count us worthy, O Lord, of passing this day without sin. Blessed are you, Lord, God of our fathers.* Praised and glorified be your name forever. Amen. Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us,* for we have hoped in you. Blessed are you, O Lord;* teach us your law. Blessed are you, O Master;* make us understand your commandments. Blessed are you, Holy One;* enlighten us with your precepts. You have been our refuge, Lord, from generation to generation. I cried out: Lord, have mercy on me.* Heal my soul, for I have sinned against you. I have fled to you, O Lord.* Teach me to do your will,* for you are my God, the source of life and in your light we see light. Pour forth your mercy on those who acknowledge you. Priest: Wisdom, be attentive!

2 People Respond: (as in Glory be to the Father at the end of mass) O Lord, save your people* and bless your inheritance.* To all who do battle with sin and evil,* grant victory;* and by the power of your cross* protect your people. resurrection. (3 times) The First Sunday Antiphon ***************Liturgy Begins*************** Shout to the Lord, all the earth: sing now to His name, give glory to His praise. Say unto God, How awesome are your works! Because of the greatness of Your strength Your enemies will flatter You. Let all the earth worship You and sing to You, let it sing to Your name, O Most High. The Third Sunday Antiphon Come, let us sing joyfully to the Lord, let us acclaim God, our Savior. Let us come before His face with praise, and acclaim Him in psalms. For God is the great Lord and the great king over all the earth. *******************************Entrance**************************** Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ.

3 Tropars (Tone 3) Let the heavens be glad, let the earth rejoice,* for the Lord has done a mighty deed with His arm.* He trampled death by death.* He became the first-born of the dead:* He saved us from the abyss of Hades* and granted great mercy to the world. O Lord, save your people* and bless your inheritance.* To all who do battle with sin and evil,* grant victory;* and by the power of your cross* protect your people. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever and ever. Amen. The sword of fire no longer guards the gate of paradise,* for the tree of the cross has extinguished it most gloriously.* Death is no more* and Hades in defeat is expelled.* And you, O Savior, have stood before those in Hades invitingly calling:* Once again come to paradise. Instead of: Holy God resurrection. (3 times) Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever and ever. Amen. And we glorify your holy resurrection. resurrection. Apostolos Prokimenon: O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance! Stichon: To you, O Lord, I have called: O my Rock, be not deaf to me! Reading from the Epistle of St. Paul to the Hebrews: Brethren, since we have a great high priest who has passed into the heavens, let us hold fast our profession of faith. For we have not a high priest unable to pity our weaknesses, but one tried as we are in all things, save sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

4 For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in matters pertaining to God, so that he may offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He is able to have compassion on the ignorant and erring, because he himself also is beset with weakness, and therefore must make offerings for sin in his own behalf as in behalf of the people. And no one invests himself with this honor: only one who is called by God takes it, as Aaron was. So also Christ did not glorify himself with the high priesthood, but glorified the One who had spoken to him, You are my son. I this day have begotten you. As he says also in another place, You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchisedek. Alleluia: Remember you congregation which you have acquired from the beginning: you redeemed the scepter of your inheritance. Stichon: God is our King forever: he bought about salvation in the midst of the earth. Gospel: (Mk 8:34-9:1) The Lord said: "Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and that of the gospel will save it. What profit is there for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? What could one give in exchange for his life? Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this faithless and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels." He also said to them, "Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come in power." Instead of: It is truly right All creation* rejoices in you,* O full of grace:* the assembly of angels and the human race. O sanctified temple and spiritual paradise,* boast of virgins!* God became incarnate in you.* Being our God before all ages, he became a child.* By making your womb his throne,* you became more spacious than the skies. All creation rejoices in you,* O full of grace. Glory to you.

5 Kinonikon The light of your countenance* has shown upon us, O Lord. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.

May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.

May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. OUTLINE OF THE CATHOLIC MASS THE INTRODUCTORY RITES GREETING Priest: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. ~ or Grace to you and
