1 Year 7 Introduction to Drama Aim: Introduce year 7 students to the drama environment and start to build on drama space procedures. To encourage whole group cooperation. To build trust and learn names of students. Skills: Introduction to drama techniques: Neutral, Frozen Images, Spoken Thoughts, Improvisation, Blocking, characterisation, role play, marking the moment, space, levels, props into Silent Movies Aim: To consider 'detail' within all mime and improvisation with emphasis on movement, gesture and body language. To encourage technical observation and constructive criticism of work. To understand the concept of 'Mime' in its own right and within Improvisation. To create a short silent movie demonstrating miming skills. Skills: Mime as dramatic form, rehearsed and spontaneous improvisation, self and group evaluation, group dynamics, individual contributions both orally and physically, cooperation, listening, creativity and imaginative response, gesture and body language awareness, sustaining audience suspension of disbelief and drama terminology Learning to use body language, facial expressions, gestures and movement and imagination. analysis Year 7 Storytelling Aim: Explore different modes of storytelling. To encourage whole and small group cooperation. Develop characters based on known and unknown texts. Develop awareness of a range of stories and how they are performed. 3 Year 8 Acting and Directing. Aim: To understand and experience through practical exploration the difference between the role of the director and the actor. Skills: Co-operation, Listening, directing, acting for a director, script work, line learning, audience awareness, space, levels, props, characterisation, role play Physical Theatre Aim: To consider how to safely move and interact with others when creating movement based pieces. To encourage technical observation and constructive criticism of work.
