6 Step 1: Envision the fun! The first step in planning your new pool is to consider how your family will use a pool. A good rule of design is form follows function. Consider the options below and discuss them with the whole family. Remember to use the checklist to record everyone s favorite ideas. Built-in Fun Will you want a diving pool for a classic cannonball competition or a play pool for water sports like volleyball or basketball? Skip the trip to the gym & consider a lap pool for a great workout in your own backyard. How about seating in the pool how much & how many? Would you like a cozy love seat or two, an expansive sun shelf to stretch out on, or a swim up bar to enjoy a cold drink in your cool pool?
