1 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Oct. 25, 2013 Contact: Meredith Kersten Colorado Healthcare Communicators Announces 2013 s Winners DENVER Colorado Healthcare Communicators (CHC) recognized outstanding work in public relations, marketing and communications Oct. 24 at its annual s banquet and ceremony, emceed by TaRhonda Thomas of 9NEWS KUSA. Two hundred people attended the event at Mile High Station in Denver. Colorado Healthcare Communicators is honored to present these much-deserved awards to our winners and to recognize organizations and individuals whose work contributes to Colorado s vibrant health-care community, said 2013 CHC President Heather Horsey. For more than 25 years, CHC has honored Colorado professionals who provide communication services to healthcare organizations including in-house marketing departments, advertising agencies and consultants who enter on behalf of a healthcare organization. Both CHC members and nonmembers can submit awards for the annual competition. Categories for 2013 included: advertising, collateral, communications programs, community relations, media relations, websites, writing, newsletters, new media and, new for 2013, public affairs and observances. The full list of 2013 winners is available at (and below). More than 80 awards were handed out including three Judges Choice Awards. The Colorado Hospital Project of the Year went to Children s Hospital Colorado for their video entry, What to expect from your surgery at Children s Hospital Colorado. Vail Valley Medical Center received the Colorado Nonprofit Project of the Year for Vail Health Magazine, an innovative take on a 2012 annual report. The most prestigious award of the evening, the Grand Gold Leaf, was awarded to Donor Alliance for their multi-pronged observance, Donor Alliance observes National Donate Life Month. CHC members chose Katie Kerwin McCrimmon of Solutions as the Media Representative of the Year. CHC members gave the Professional of the Year award to Debbie Lynch, CEO of Lupus Colorado, who will retire later this year. The 2013 Gold Leaf Co-Chairs were Kathryn Cicerchi and Melissa Vizcarra. Ashlee Dixon, Meredith Kersten, Leah Martinez, Sarah Molk and Danielle Percival served on the committee.
