The use of phones in crime and terrorism has been widely recognized for some years, but the forensic study of mobile devices is a relatively new field. A proliferation of phones (particularly smartphones) on the consumer market caused a demand for forensic examination of the devices, which could not be met by existing computer forensics technicians. Understanding and having knowledge of the Intelligence Community mission, vision, goals, and values as a mobile forensics professional is invaluable to your position, whether you are working as a law enforcement officer or in a federal capacity. The Job Outlook Employment of forensic science technicians is projected to grow 6 percent from 2012 to 2022, slower than the average for all occupations. Course provides instruction for using software to perform complex social network analysis calculations and apply layouts to quickly organize large datasets. Course introduces students to industry standard tools, while providing hands on experience with rough equivalents. Various sample datasets will be explored and tied to realistic scenarios. Course addresses sophisticated geospatial technologies including instruction for a Geographic Information System (GIS). 4 Cellular Analysis and Data Forensics An examination of digital forensics with an emphasis on cellular data investigations. Concentration on the process of legally obtaining and handling digital evidence. Data analysis and exploration tools will be examined. Course covers legal process for obtaining cellular data records and other digital evidence. Course walks through the use of different software used to exploit and analyze digital media including but not limited to cellular phones, memory cards, and computer hard drives. Course explores the cellular system along with the use and scope of historical and temporal cellular analysis. Course expands on Geographic Information System (GIS) topics and adds additional procedures for data investigation. Course provides extensive walk-throughs providing students with hands-on experience with tools through real-world scenarios. 1. Recognize potential sources for desired information 2. Course details the flow of strategic, operational, and tactical intelligence from multiple perspectives, concentrating on intelligence collection. Course introduces intelligence disciplines along with the associated strengths and weaknesses. Course discusses analytic strategies and pitfalls concerning intelligence analysis. 1.
