K2 were subsequently retained to prepare the Full Business Case, as well as oversee the detailed design, procurement and delivery. 6 Main Entrance Redevelopment Surrey & Sussex NHS Trust East Surrey Hospital Dec 2012 Confidential Business Case Production Programme Management Project Management The Outline Business Case prepared by K2 Consultancy sought to provide a focus for patients and visitors entering the Trust. The purpose of the project was to provide a new main entrance that created a calm, professional environment to the hospital, as well as deliver external retail opportunities K2 Consultancy developed and managed a design competition inviting a number of Architects to present an innovative solution that aligned with the brief. Following the successful competition and preparation of the Full Business Case, a design was developed on the basis of a traditional procurement route. Contractors were appointed to deliver this project in two phases, enabling beneficial use of the main entrance as soon as possible The design team worked closely wit the retail procurement in providing fit for purpose, shell and core facilities. The scheme was troubled by the loss of the structural engineer at a critical stage, however the position was recovered with the main entrance and retailers operating at a higher level than expected.

8 Theatres Refurbishment Surrey & Sussex NHS Trust East Surrey Hospital Ongoing Confidential Business Case Production Project Management K2 have coordinated the production of the Outline and Full Business Case for this scheme, incorporating design and procurement options and recommendations. Project Objectives To upgrade and increase current theatre provision at East Surrey Create HTM compliant theatres Ensure lists are maintained with no disruption of service Increase efficiency within the theatres Project Deliverable Provision of four new modular theatres Refurbishment of existing five theatres Provision on new mechanical installation Modern medical equipment eradicating patient risk Project Challenges Working in live theatre environment Planning approval, disruption of Great Crested Newts Eradication of existing high level risks within the existing theatres

9 Endoscopy Suite Surrey & Sussex NHS Trust East Surrey Hospital Winter m Project Management K2 Consultancy Limited were employed by the Trust to provide key Project Management services to review and oversee delivery of this key project, when an existing project team were identified as failing to exercise sufficient control over the project s delivery plan, quality, cost and programme. Once appointed K2 undertook a full project review which resulted in work being stopped whilst the scheme was redesigned to achieve single sex compliance. In addition, a new contractor was appointed and project team roles and responsibilities were clearly established to ensure control of cost and quality throughout the project delivery. The project was ultimately delivered within a revised budget and programme to the satisfaction of all users.

10 Gymnasium Refurbishment Horsham & Chanctonbury PCT, Horsham Hospital Spring k Client Project Management Refurbishment of the Horsham Hospital Physiotherapy Gymnasium addressed important issues around privacy and dignity and also significantly improved the internal environment. K2 Consultancy initially concentrated on the clients requirements by engaging the key stakeholders at an early stage in the project to produce a robust client brief. Through careful selection of a contractor and management of the design and delivery process an end result was achieved that excelled expectations and provided staff and users with an excellent facility. 12 Estate Strategy & Masterplan Worthing & Southlands NHS Trust Worthing Hospital Summer m Strategic Project Management Development Management K2 was engaged by Worthing and Southlands NHS Trust to undertake a strategic review of all estates assets to define an estate wide development plan. K2 provided development management and project management services for the project which was a Strategic Health Authority sponsored programme involving a major investment, redesign of patient facilities, and redevelopment of the Worthing Hospital site. K2 s strong contribution to the project, together with their professional approach and innovation added real value to our organisation. 13 P21 Hospital Redevelopment Horsham & Chanctonbury PCT, Horsham Hospital Summer m Project Management K2 played a significant role at Horsham Hospital acting as Client Project Manager on this Procure 21 project. The major redevelopment and refurbishment of the Hospital included seven individual developments that included new Ante Natal Clinic facilities, Diagnostics Major Injuries Unit, Intermediate Care, OPMHS, out-patients and offices. 14 New Radiotherapy Department Royal Surrey County Hospital Winter 2013 Confidential Project Management An important collaboration is in place at East Surrey Hospital which will see Royal Surrey County Hospital and Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust. This will provide important new radiotherapy and chemotherapy services for patients in Redhill and the surrounding area, through the introduction of a new radiotherapy facility providing two linear accelerators. K2 Consultancy has been engaged on the project to manage the design and delivery process of the new facility on behalf of Royal Surrey County Hospital, with close liaison with Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust. Key challenges for K2 to address include the coordination of infrastructure works that are being executed by SASH, e.g. below ground services diversions, changes to road layout and improvements to landscaping, along with specific stringent design criteria for the new facility relating to energy performance and standard compliance.

15 New Acute Ward Surrey & Sussex NHS Trust East Surrey Hospital Spring m Project Management & Development Management This important project at East Surrey Hospital required additional bed capacity to be delivered within extremely tight timescales to ensure the provision of sufficient bed stock to meet forecast demand. An area of the Hospital was identified as suitable for conversion and K2 assisted in developing the Brief of requirements in conjunction with all stakeholders and users to establish the new ward. Sixteen compliant beds were provided within three new bays along with associated support facilities. Leading the design, procurement and delivery stages, K2 ensured the facility was delivered in line with cost and programme targets set by the governing Trust Project Board. 16 Healthcare Projects Car Parks, East Surrey Hospital, Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust Hospital Street, East Surrey Hospital, Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust K2 Consultancy managed the delivery of the hospital perimeter road resurfacing works. These works were carefully co-ordinated with the local authority including the South East Coast Ambulance Service. The Hospital Street Project included the complete refurbishment of the main internal access route. The works included new floor covering and ceiling as well as a new bump rail and decorations. Patient Tagging, East Surrey Hospital, Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust Extreme Body Scanner, East Surrey Hospital, Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust Provision of electronic patient tagging system for the tracking of patients through the Trust. This systems was adopted for the tracking of patients with dementia. The delivery of the Extreme Body Scanner required careful management with the local environment to ensure it was installed successfully.
