2 1 Purpose of the Report Pursuant to Arkansas code Annotated , Statistical Data Collection. The Workers Compensation Commission shall publish annually, on an aggregate basis, information pertaining to the distribution of workers compensation insurance premiums, losses, expenses, and net income to be compiled from reports required to be filed with the Arkansas Insurance Commissioner pursuant to A.C.A. Section , as amended, or any similar information required to be filed be the Insurance Commissioner regarding workers compensation insurance. The workers Compensation Commission shall also publish in the same annual report, information regarding aggregate workers compensation benefit distribution to claimants, medical providers and attorneys, if that specific information or similar information becomes available from revised or additional reporting requirements that may be required by the Arkansas Insurance Commissioner. Methodology of Report Compilation The data used were compiled from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and include direct business in the State of Arkansas. Time Period Covered by Report January 1 December 31, 2012 Company Name Designation All company names listed in this report were licensed to write workers compensation insurance in Arkansas during 2012.

3 2 DEFINITIONS Column 1 Direct Premiums Written The net premiums written of an insurance company are equal to direct premiums plus the reinsurance assumed premiums, less the reinsurance ceded premiums. Column 2 Market Share Individual company s direct premiums written as a percentage of all companies direct premiums written in the State of Arkansas. Column 3 Direct Premiums Earned The earned premiums of an insurance company represent the prorate portion of the premiums in force applicable to the expired portion of the policy term, plus or minus the premiums earned on audits and other adjustments. To compute earned premiums, deduct from net premium writings the net change which has taken place during the period in total unearned premium reserve. Column 4 Direct Losses Incurred An amount representing the losses paid plus the change (plus or minus) in outstanding loss reserves within a given period of time. Column 5 Loss Ratio Excluding All LAE Direct Losses Incurred divided by Direct Premiums Earned Limitations of the Report The data in this annual report were compiled from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and the Arkansas Insurance Department. The validity of the data is limited to the accuracy of individual insurance companies. The Arkansas Workers Compensation Commission must rely solely on the data for this report and does not have any balancing mechanism. The information contained on the following pages is unaudited and not a complete financial analysis. It is not an expression of opinion on any insurer.
