12 Grades and GPA GPA (Grade Point Average) is typically on a 4.0 scale Fulton County uses Numeric Average, on a 100 point scale, as the Official GPA Most Colleges (and HOPE) use 4.0 GPA Many variations on GPA Core vs. Cumulative Weighted vs. Unweighted HOPE Scholarship GPA Your HOPE GPA is the average of all core curriculum coursework (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and World Language), including failing grades, on a 4.0 scale Middle school grades are not included A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, F = 0 All Honors points are removed, but 0.5 weighting is added back in for AP/Dual Enrollment courses only No rounding: 2.99 GPA does NOT qualify you for HOPE All calculations are done by the Georgia Student Finance Commission; we cannot calculate it for you Official HOPE calculations can be found by logging into your child s account on

13 HOPE Scholarship HOPE Scholarship Students must graduate from high school with a 3.0 GPA Pays a percentage of the standard tuition charges Zell Miller Scholar Program Students must graduate from high school with a 3.7 GPA At least a 1200 SAT score (combined reading/math) or at least a 26 ACT composite score Pays 100% of tuition NEW HOPE Rigor Requirements Class of 2018 and beyond need 4 advanced credits What Now?
