FULL COMMITMENT TO TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT. The inet Transportation Management System (TMS)
KEEP ALL YOUR SHIPMENTS UNDER CONTROL. Reliable transportation management, day after day The demands on global and domestic transportation networks are continually growing. More and more parties are involved and transportation volumes are constantly increasing. Business partners are located around the world and every market has different characteristics and requirements. Safety stock is being reduced, while simultaneously, quicker reactions to market fluctuations are called for. But also ecological factors, the price increase of raw materials and more stringent safety regulations influence the complexity of a transportation network. Without a reliable transportation management system, a company cannot meet these demands. As an internationally operating software company, we develop an integrated, scalable and flexible Transporta tion Management System (TMS) with expertise, innovative ideas and the courage to blaze new trails. This gives our customers a clear lead beyond standard. Our Transportation Management solution offers you an efficient system that allows you to reliably, quickly and economically realize your goals in transportation management, thus ensuring your competitive advantage. Diethard Kaufmann head of software engineering 2 3
MANAGE COMPLEX TRANSPORTATION NETWORKS EASILY AND COST-EFFICIENTLY. THE INET TMS AT A GLANCE Closing the loop competence in each phase From strategic network planning to daily KPI reporting Transportation Management Systems are evolving into collaborative, cross-company integration platforms. Our Transportation Management solution supports strategic, operational and administrative tasks reliably and effectively in complex domestic as well as global transportation networks. For any mode of transportation modular functions from transportation planning to the generation of KPI reports are included in one solution. Visibility brings greater reliability and lowers costs inet Transportation Management offers: Cost optimization by increasing the asset utilization ratio preventing unnecessary shipments consolidating and deconsolidating shipments reducing inventories automating administrative processes Increased reliability through systematic entering and processing of transpor tation orders frictionless interaction and communication one consistent and complete database KPI reports Increased security and transparency through early detection of deviations (dates, quantities) Container Maintenance and Claims Container Fee Settlement Freight Invoice / Credit Note Verification Freight Billing / Self-Billing Freight Cost Claiming Freight Cost Allocation Transportation Analytics Freight Cost Simulation CONTROL ANALYZE Network Design AN INTEGRATED REAL-TIME DATABASE Strategic Transportation Planning PLAN Transportation Sourcing Freight Cost Calculator Container Demands Planning Transportation Order Management Dynamic Transportation Planning Transportation Dispatching Global Trade Compliance Dock Management The Transportation Management solution facilitates easy real-time access to a consolidated database and reliable communication with a multitude of partners in the supply chain. At the same time, optimized compliance with logistics service provider agreements and transportation instructions access to all relevant information and documents for all parties involved Freight Cost Calculation Mediation EXECUTE Continuous Replenishment Cross Docking asset utilization is ensured, regardless of whether you are operating your own transportation networks Freight Rate Management Multi Parcel Shipping or have outsourced part or all of the transportation management to third parties. Visibility Multi Carrier Communication Even in the case of significant modifications, e.g. the integration of a new company or business units into the supply chain, our software is always the reliable Container Scheduling Container Inventory Management Freight Rating and stable platform for the management of your shipments. In addition, technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and mobile telephony establish comprehensive visibility. The highlighted modules are part of the Transportation Management solution. Additional information on all other solutions and services can be found in the respective brochures and on the Internet at 4 5
APPROPRIATE EQUIPMENT FOR ANY TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT CHALLENGE. The inet Transportation Management solution in detail The modules of the Transportation Management solution can be used individually and in combination. The service-oriented architecture as well as certified interfaces ensure that all processes can be combined quickly, easily and efficiently with one another. Furthermore, they can be implemented in existing transportation management networks and linked with the existing system. Network Design Design customer-driven transportation networks The structural planning of complete logistics networks and their infrastructure is the main task in the design of supply chains. The Network Design module supports you during the entire strategic planning stage. For structural planning and decisions, all transportation routes, production sites, inventories and customer demands are modelled in a constraint-based solver. In this way, strategic decisions regarding the configuration of the supply chain are made on a well-founded basis. Strategic Transportation Planning Determine midterm transportation volumes, optimize shipments and define the appropriate mode of transportation In the Strategic Transportation Planning module, historical and forecast transportation data is taken for the forecasting of transportation structures. The simulation with the constraint-based solver and scenario modelling provides a picture of the prospective transportation activity. Strategic Transporta tion Planning enables optimized sharing of costs and transportation capacities within the network by identifying demands and capacities within and across companies. Shipments therefore can be bundled, costs reduced and the asset utilization ratio increased. Transportation Sourcing Reduce freight and administrative costs, cover mid and long-term transportation needs Negotiations with logistics service providers need a lot of time and money. Our Transportation Sourcing module enables you to prepare and execute tenders for the sourcing of mid to long-term transportation needs quickly and easily. The process starts with analyzing transportation spending, forecasting structural changes and ends with the identification of the appropriate logistics service provider. The workflow definition for RFI, RFP and RFQ minimizes your administration costs and supports multi-round negotiations. Various scenario analyses help you to select the best bid. Transportation Order Management Manage different transportation orders centrally In order to optimize the execution of your shipments, transportation needs must be recognized at the earliest time possible. While the central bundling of different spread transportation needs and the right service selection are of high priority for outbound shipments, early notification for pickup to the logistics service providers is decisive for inbound shipments. In the Transportation Order Management module all information on the shipments is systematically recorded whether it is a delivery, pickup, return or parcel. This information is structured using defined master data and rules and can be attained via EDI, web EDI or simple upload functions. Complete and valid transportation data in conjunction with packaging instructions, container and goods-specific information, as well as customs and dangerous goods information improve your process quality when placing an order and prevent delivery and pickup errors. Dynamic Transportation Planning Plan shipments effectively, optimize fleet assets The selection of the optimal transportation service and the bundling of individual shipments are the tasks of the Dynamic Transportation Planning module. Your transportation needs are planned either rule-based or dynamically using constraintbased optimization algorithms. This is carried out taking into consideration criteria such as transporta tion costs, routes and capacities as well as delivery and pickup restrictions. If you operate a fleet of your own, you can store the vehicle data and assign vehicles to tours depending on avail a bility. Within the predefined time slots, a precise route progress as well as the optimal sequence of loading and unloading stops is calculated. The route plan contains all route information with the exact destinations and arrival times as well as the graphical visualization of maps. 6 7
Transportation Dispatching Organize multi-leg and multi-mode shipments worldwide in real-time The Transportation Dispatching module facilitates the scheduling of logistics service providers for multi-leg and multi-mode shipments. The automated routeplanning maps all valid tours depending on freight costs, availability of assets and timetables. Booking requests for multi-mode shipments are transmitted frictionless via EDI to logistics service providers, ocean carriers and airlines. Order confirmations and subsequent bookings are also received electronically by the system, thus guaranteeing the best process and data quality. The logistics service providers profit from information on the planned shipments available online already during the dispatching process. Therefore, they can reserve transportation capacity in advance. For unexpected shipments not covered by the existing contracts, logistics services providers can be registered for spot-sourcing. Global Trade Compliance Manage customs procedures efficiently, ensure compliance Our Global Trade Compliance module enables you to meet customs data and compliance needs in various countries and regions efficiently. Functionalities for import, export, transit or intrastat filings, for processing shipments with national, regional or local authorities are provided. Furthermore, the management of duty deferral and duty reduction programs is facili tated. Moreover, product classification, supplier declaration, certificates of origin management and supply chain security (AEO, C-TPAT etc.) are integrated for the optimization of your customs procedures. Standardized interfaces between ERP, government and other systems simplify the dissemination of customs information. The integration of logistics and customs service partners brings transparency to your supply chain, whilst remaining flexible for changing business and regulatory needs. A continuous automated denied parties screening of all addresses recorded in the system ensures that anti-terror guidelines are complied with. Since sanctions are person and company-based, these rules not only affect global economic relationships, but also all domestic transactions of a European company. Dock Management Speed up handling at the ramp and optimize loading and unloading procedures Limited resources in space and staff demand optimal organization of the handling of your incoming and outgoing goods. To avoid waiting times and reduce un/loading times, the Dock Management module allows your logistics service provider to agree upon time slots and gates for pickup and delivery with your staff and even third parties. This is carried out online in real-time and before the actual arrival of the logistics service provider. This way, problems can be solved before they occur. Hence, the procedures at the ramp are better organized and structured, thus reducing the administrative effort and minimizing errors. This efficient dock management frees up resources on every level, which in turn reduces freight and handling costs. Continuous Replenishment Ensure continuous flow of goods, integrate transportation with order management Within our Continuous Replenishment module the calucation of the ranges of coverage is based on an integrated inventory management in conjunction with transportation lead times as to determine your demand. If critical values are computed, automated replenishment orders are triggered and send to your suppliers. Your logistics service provider instantaneously receives a transportation notification, including the calculated pickup dates. Relevant preparations can thus be carried out early and possible changes can be taken into account quickly. Status information from order processing, production, goods receipt, warehousing, goods issue and transportation offers you complete real-time visibility throughout the entire replenishment process. Cross Docking Always keep an eye on the goods, consolidate and deconsolidate shipments The Cross Docking module allows you to split transportation orders or units manually or electronically and to re-bundle and schedule them for the next transportation leg. Individual packages can be traced, even during multi-leg tours. Damaged, surplus or missing packages are automatically recorded in discrepancy and correction lists. Any required followup shipment can also be initiated manually or automatically. Barcode scanners accelerate your unloading, handling, picking and loading procedures. Multi Parcel Shipping Send many parcels with less effort Our Multi Parcel Shipping module facilitates an integrated automated carrier and service selection for parcel shipments. Its functionality is compliant to carriers requirements concerning address validation, label and manifest printing, as well as electronical data transmission. Automatic updates of the routing data and tracking and tracing on shipment as well as item level round out the Multi Parcel Shipping module. Moreover, access to the track & trace services of the respective carrier is provided, too. The module grants door-to-door visibility and simplifies parcel shipping by substituting many different carrier systems. Multi Carrier Communication Minimize errors, automate frictionless interaction and communication The Multi Carrier Communication module enables frictionless communication adjusted to the requirements of your logistics service providers. Shipping documents such as loading lists, airway bills, bills of lading, delivery notes, (certified) transportation labels etc. are automatically generated and printed in the process. External documents can be attached to the respective transportation order using an upload function. The documents are distributed electronically and are available to all your supply chain partners. Electronic communication occurs via EDI, web EDI or XML. 8 9
Freight Rating Transportation Analytics Calculate acutal freight costs in real-time for different processes The Freight Rating module provides you with the estimated financial expenses for a shipment. This pre-calculation can be used to request freight costs in the sourcing or sales process and to negotiate prices. These figures are helpful for your dispatchers in their operational transportation planning, e.g. in the selection of the appropriate logistics service provider. Another decisive advantage here is that the entire TMS accesses the same defined freight rates. Visibility Improve logistics service provider performance and reliability, measure and analyze processes The Transportation Analytics module enables the measurement of the strategic and operational performance of your transportation management. Daily reports based on your predefined parameters make a comparison of the actual transportation processes to the target business objectives possible. Configurable dashboards with easy to understand KPIs enable central controlling and easy access to all relevant information. With the help of these KPIs you can monitor and analyze delivery and lead times, the reliability and quality of logistics service providers, as well as transportation costs and volumes. Monitor shipments and assets in real-time Our Visibility module enables you to monitor shipments closely and to assess delivery times and quality. Status information is processed using integration technologies and made available to your partners. Hence, consistent documentation of the processes is available to and traceable for any supply chain partner at any time. Event and exception management rules are defined for the monitoring of the processes and tasks. Critical shipments and deviations are therefore detected early, notified and displayed in the form of dashboards. The use of RFID, GPS and mobile telephony allows continuous real-time tracking of your goods and assets during the entire transportation process. AT A GLANCE inet Transportation Management all modes of transportation and processes in a single system one certified gateway to logistics service provi ders and shipping platforms customized and certified documents for customers and logistics service providers easy access to all information (web-based, integrated and in real-time) consistent and valid data for negotiations, reports and analyses compliance with directives and law global shipment tracking and tracing continuity and scalability from planning to KPI reporting 10 11
