The campaign comes as part of Department s interest in community service, and out of Dubai Municipality s concern to humanitarian initiatives to support the needy. These campaigns resulted in boosting up efforts of Blood Donation Center in the country to provide blood needed to save the lives of patients and in cases of accidents and emergencies. 42 such campaigns were conducted between 1999 and.

2 Name of event : Mass wedding Type of initiative :Sports and cultural activity support, Humanitarian and voluntary activity support Participants : DHA, Islamic Affairs and Charitable activities Total participants 44 Total participants 39 Mass wedding is organized under the patronage of H E Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Makhtoum, Deputy ruler of Dubai, Finance Minister and Chairman of Dubai Municipality.. This initiative comes as a step to put in to practices Dubai s dreams to create a society that advancing with high levels of living and comfort and with strengthened social fabric woven by fraternity and brotherhood. The initiative is organized in line with the thoughts of Late HE Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, First President Of Nation,and as the implementation of directives HE Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the country regarding reducing expense of marriage functions in the society. Also, DM aims at encouraging native youths to keep marriage functions with fewer expenses as envisioned by HE sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Number of beneficiaries in the 2000 and events figured as 442 employees (males and females) Name of event: Computer donation campaign Type of event :Awareness and education support. Supervision : Corporate Marketing and Relation 3/1/ 21/2/ 8/1 As per DM s policy to support social, charity and humanitarian projects, Corporate Marketing and Relations Department distributed computers and related equipments to several schools and organizations. 50 computers were distributed to schools and needy families in this regard.

3 Name of event : No Car Day Type of event: support to sports &cultural activities, support to voluntary &humanitarian initiatives Supervision : Environment Department 9/2/ 18/1/ No Car Day is considered as one of the main environment drives organized by DM in collaboration with other government and private entities, to campaign in the public for reducing private vehicles and encouraging public transports. On the day, all Dubai Municipality staff would quit their private vehicles and use public transport means to reach for work. This green drive which gives the message to reduce carbon emission and encourage keeping environment friendly behavior in the city is wildly applauded and supported by public Name of event: Marasina Type of event: supporting sports & cultural activities, supporting voluntary and humanitarian initiatives Supervision: Environment Department 7-8/12/ 5/12/ Dubai Municipality organizes this event in collaboration with Dubai Ports and Dubai Customs in order to spread awareness among ship owners, workers of marine transport companies, school students, fishermen and public with regard to cleanliness of marinas of Dubai. The participation in the event has been of wide range especially in clean the creek section of the event. Through the event, DM holds up the importance of marine environment of Dubai and keeps spreading awareness against pollution of marine waters to protect the flora and fauna it houses. Name : Desert Clean Up Campaign Type : support cultural, sport, voluntary and humanitarian initiatives Supervision : Waste Management Department 2-11 /2/ Dubai Municipality organizes the Desert Clean Up Campaign under the slogan 'Leave the place clean for others to enjoy it' aiming at spreading the awareness on the importance of protection of desert areas among the desert visitors as well as to get rid of bad appearance due to the leftover food and other wastes negatively affecting the desert environment and public appearance.

4 The campaign received excellent response from the desert visitors. The community members and many voluntary organizations and companies effectively participated through the implementation of a range of positive practices in the desert area which could spread the significance of cleanliness to a wider audience. Name : We Help Syrian Brothers Type : support voluntary and humanitarian initiatives 26/-28 2/ Based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Municipality takes initiative for solidarity campaigns to help distressed people due to wars and natural disasters collecting cash and material helps during the working hours. Municipality receives these donations in its main building and external branches, which can fortify the spirit of social responsibility and promote the participation of employees in the voluntary and humanitarian initiatives. Name : Yallah Walk Type : support sport and cultural initiatives 24/8/ Cancelled 'Yallah Walk' campaign is a popular awareness campaign that attracts the public general to the walking tracks of the emirate of Dubai. It comes as part of the keenness of Dubai Municipality and its responsibility towards the society to make them aware about the significance of walking and its benefits as well as to implant a healthy lifestyle in the community helping to bring up a healthy generation. It is also aimed at introducing the efforts of the civic body in executing the means of a comfortable and sustainable living for the residents of the city of Dubai such as walking track projects in the entire parks and beaches in the emirate.

5 Name: Clean Up the World Type : support cultural, sport, voluntary and humanitarian initiatives Super vision : Waste Management Department October 'Clean Up the World' is the biggest voluntary campaign in the country in the field of public cleanliness in which above 40,000 volunteers participate from government and private organizations in the emirate of Dubai to contribute in the cleaning activities in different areas of the city, marine environment and open areas. The campaign works to unify the efforts of community members, government and private institutions and voluntary organizations to protect the local environment, promote good practices through reducing wastes and its proper disposal.
