2 Literacy- Based Promo1on Act Overview Improve the reading skills of Kindergarten through 3 rd grade public school students Eliminate social promo;on Inform the public of the school district's policies and procedures on student reten;on and promo;on No;fy parents or legal guardians of a determina;on of a substan;al deficit in reading immediately and with each quarterly progress report Provide intensive reading instruc;on and interven;on to students who are retained or promoted for good cause 2
