16 Recent wide area flooding December 2013 East Coast Tidal Surge largest in 60 years Wettest January in south of England since records began Rainfall December 2013 to February 2014 measured at 500mm - highest recorded in 100 years February 2014 highest waves ever measured in Britain impacted South West coast of England Serious wide area and coastal flooding resulted in excess of 5000 homes flooded Unprecedented scale of Fire & Rescue Service mobilisation (largest simultaneous operational deployment of FRS personnel & equipment since WW2)
